Hi everyone

I wonder if it's safe to charge a phone with a charger for another phone?

for example, charging a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a charger for Samsung Galaxy S2.

Thank you in advance.

As long as the charger can put out at least about 200mA, it will work. (A small charger like that would take forever to charge the battery, though.) As for safety - there's nothing unsafe, as long as it's a 5 Volt (up to about 5.3 Volts) charger with a microUSB connector - which is just about any charger made in the past 5 years or more. Even if the charger is capable of a LOT more current than the phone draws (I charge phones on my 30 Amp bench supply all the time) there's no problem.

What is the volt and amp output of your current phone? All phones charge at 5V output with the amperge varying. For eg, my Galaxy S5 charges at 2A output, whilst I know the iphone 6 charges at 1A output. You can safely charge your phone with any charger as long as it is 5V output and either the same amp output or less. So if your phone charges at 1A output, you can use another charger that is 1A or less output, with the same 5V.
