Wanted to put a quick plug in for a pet project of mine, a free app, it monitors "real world" network speed over time and locations -
by real world, meaning, not an artificial benchmark - actual web page downloads to devices. You can compare yourself to others "nearby", carrier comparisons, a "heatmap" of where your device gets what speeds, etc.
Its kind of a work in progress, but available on the android market, "Speed Reality Beta".
