Re: Fast Facebook Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (Beta)
I really don't like that the main news feed is so sparse and doesn't have my friends' pictures beside their statuses. If there were contact pictures there, I think I'd like this a lot more.
Some other thoughts:
- Don't like the red timestamp text
- The animations seem to "snap," awkwardly into place at the end
- Hate the zoom-in buttons in individual posts.
- When a friend posts a picture, I can't find a way to see it full-size. Just opens the post and the zoom in button mainly just zooms in on the text (in a very strange way)
- The Photos tab view is weird. All the photos are squashed in a weird aspect ratio, they only fill along the page (not up and down it), so there's very little space used on the page, and they load slowly. When you click a picture, I don't like the behaviour of there being a slightly zoomed in version below you can then pinch/zoom. Can't we just be taken to the post and see the info, likes, comments, etc? It's a weird web-view type thing going on.
- Generally doesn't feel fast, despite the name... It feels a bit stunted and awkward to get around, and is quite difficult to even read, with some of the font styles used and lack of pictures. It feels very text-heavy (almost Windows Phone-y).
+ LOVE some of the quick access panels. The one at the very top left is good.
+ Love the mini Notifications, Messages etc panels at the bottom right - very nicely implemented. Although it's impossible to distinguish new notifications from old ones - suggest the news ones have a highlighted background.
I'm afraid right now I don't really see it as a compelling alternative to the official app, Friendcaster or Friend Me. There are some nice ideas in there already though, but I think there's a bit more work to be done before this is really usable as a daily alternative to the official app. - 04-14-2012, 05:10 AM #8

Re: Fast Facebook Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (Beta)
I absolutly love the ICS look, way better than standard Facebook, and very fast using HTC one s, Stupid fast. only one comment, i wish there was a faster way to like a post. leave the pop-up window for the comments which is nice, but if you could place a like button on the news feeds without the pop-up. Thanks for all your hard work in our AWESOME android community!
