Re: Bionic Gets Custom Recovery!
From what I gather, this uses the 2nd-init method, which does allow you to run a custom ROM but doesn't allow you to run custom kernels. I believe this means the custom ROM has to be based on the Bionic kernel.
With an unlocked bootloader, you are not limited to ROMs that are based on the Bionic kernel.
I'm new to the whole Android dev scene so what I said might all be wrong, but that's my understanding of it atm.
Also, the CM team has confirmed that they are working on porting CM7 on to the Bionic so that's good news. - 09-14-2011, 10:17 AM #6

Re: Bionic Gets Custom Recovery!
You're absolutely correct, until the bootloader gets unlocked all ROMs will be based off of Motorolas kernel. We can still do ALMOST everything that any other phone does tho, even overclock. I have had clockwork on my Bionic for a couple hours now and it seems pretty damn solid so far. I would imagine it should be made to the public pretty soon. CM7 is being worked on for the Bionic by CVPCS. I can't wait to get some Cyan7 on this bad boy. Already sick of this Blur crap!

Re: Bionic Gets Custom Recovery!
I'm definitely interested in CM7 on my Bionic. Had it on my OG Droid and loved it, but i'm right there with ya on the Lapdock thoughts. I don't care if the Webtop app itself is there or not, but I at least want the lapdock to have SOME sort of decent, usable operating system that runs at the 1366x768 resolution it does today. Would love to have RDP instead of being forced into Citrix, though since I have Citrix i'm fine with it for now
Judgement Day is upon us!!!!.. Bionic has gone online and became self-aware.. awaiting destruction in 3..2.. - 09-15-2011, 08:56 AM #10
