DroidTh3ory's new base/rom for the blur hating folk is out.. get at it!!
[Rom] Purity V2.3 Tpax |11-09-2011 - RootzWiki

With all blur stripped out and your choice of Tpax to flash afterwards to give you complete customization. As usual, read his entire OP like 3 times and if you still have questions, don't be shy :)

Thanks for the update. Wow, I'm quickly being left behind with all these updates being made available so quickly.

Haha team th3ory is on crack with these updates... Purity is really slick though.. If you can live without blur. Meaning you already use a launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro or Go Launcher or are willing to try them out, and you don't use any Moto widgets... you won't look back. There's always the Shift3r Tpaks still up there and being updated if you don't want to leave blur stuff.

Are those youtube videos the best to use?

I rooted last night, got up to 5.7.893, and now I'm looking to flash a ROM I want. I've become a fan of this one, but there's not a nice walkthrough.

I know I flash it, but, how do I do that using stock recovery? I'm currently at work and haven't looked at those YouTube videos (blocked), but I'd be curious if there's a good walkthrough for someone who is comfortable doing stuff, but is rooting/flashing their first android.

Best place to start is the OP in here: [Rom] Purity V2.4 Tpax |11-09-2011 - RootzWiki

It walks you through it. But you can't flash this rom thru stock recovery, you need Clockworkmod to do this.. download Bionic Bootstrapper from the market, hit the top button, then the second button, just to make sure you can get into CWM.

I also found this pretty helpful What Is ClockworkMod Recovery And How To Use It On Android [Complete Guide]

Make sure you read read and re-read the OP in the first rootzwiki. Base and Tpax files have to be on the root of your external SD card.

If you follow the OP step by step, you should be good to go. Also read through the last few pages of "How to Root the Droid Bionic" and/or the "Rooted.. what Next" threads in this forum, you'll see some good posts by 2DefMouze, he was very helpful when I was fumbling around with this....

Thanks.

So you just run the file from SDExt?

I'm comfortable with CWM and Bootstrapper, used both in rooting, etc. there just didn't seem to be clear instructions on getting the Rom in other than "install"

Yup after your wipe just install from sd card. Careful.. It's addicting.. There's a reason they call it crack flashing :)
You may want to read up on some of our talks about backing up your data, how to, which stuff is safe to restore from a backup, etc.. It's all around the posts in here.

Yeah, I did this last night when rooting. I feel comfortable about the backup point I'm at. :) About to delve in... here we go.

Since anyone cares: up and running.

That was quite easy.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Still learning some of this, reading as much as you can is helpful, people on here and Rootzwiki are infinitely helpful. Can definitely say I'm happy with my decision to root. This phone is a beast.

Sweet! Glad to hear. And yes, this phone is a beast. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Crack flashers!!! New version is being tested as we speak, might be ready tonight.

How the hell does th3ory do it? A "minor" update to IC3 2.5 and my phone is faster and smoother than ever.. Amazing. Love his tweaks to the menus, settings.. Everything

so does this have any issues to speak of? and is it speedier then stock? and how is battery life compared to stock? also can i be on 886 or have to be on 893? thanks :p
