Why are a bunch of people unrooting their phones to do ota?

Its not necessary to unroot. If you install the forever root hack you will keep root after the update. Just curious as I've seen a bunch of thread about folks unrooting in order to do the ota update..

From what I have read, and take it for what's it's worth, the OTA looks for all the stock apps and if it doesn't detect them, you won't get the OTA. Again, that's what I have read. I'm rooted but running stock with all preloaded crapware. I'm curious (1) too see if I get the OTA and (2) if I keep root after since I'm 4ever rooted.

Some people think the files that go over the air are "better" than the same files flashed in a custom recovery. Others aren't aware that you can update without loosing root. I find it's usually the latter, which is why I try and inform as much as I can :)
