Switched SIM from Nokia (Windows) to BLU R1HD. same provider (ATT) all works OK except not receiving SMS texts. Using Android 6, checked auto time setting, tried tens of times to send me messages but nothing except replies to my outbound texts.

I switched to the google messng app for sms text messages with android auto and it has worked without a glitch. The default sms text app for my LG G3 was unusable with android auto

Did you verify the APN settings were correct?
