Is it really necessary to use a case for the captivate? It has a metal backplate and gorilla glass.

What is your opinion?

Really just depends in how you like your tech...

...I'm not a fan of scratches, so I case.

I never hurt to have extra protections.

Plus with the body glove case on I feel it fits right in my hand, without it kinda slim and feel like it will slip out of my hand but this is just my opinions.

I just get irritated when dust gets on the screen. And I try wiping it off and canned air. But because the cases edges are raised you have to take the case off to get it all off.

That is why I like the Blackberry style sleeve. The phone is stock in your hand, and you slide it in the sleeve before it goes in your pocket (or drop it on the way to your pocket). Easy to clean, no rubber GRAB going in your pocket, etc. I have never really even seen the point to the condom style cases, other than the "feels in your hand" thing that is too individual taste to criticize.

Well right now the case i have is a hard gel case. Its not the kind that is rubbery and gets stuck in your pocket. Think the backplate of the aria.

Now I don't really worry about the phone all that much. It has gorilla glass and a metal backplate. But I do think the plastic components will crack if dropped.

My one big gripe is I'm a neat freak with my phones. I can't stand having dust on the screen. so i wipe it off all the time. The catch is with a case the dust doesn't come off because the edges are higher than the screen. So I'm stuck taking my phone out of the case several times a day to wipe it down.
