I have ordered the LTE version and could not be happier. Just wish I did not have to wait until April 10th.

Well I'm not trolling. I actually hate Apple. But...
Why not order a Macbook Pro with high res. display and install both Windows AND Chrome? - 03-02-2013, 02:21 PM

I would buy this in a heartbeat if my more sensible side didn't tell me to save my money.

Re: I want a Chromebook Pixel, who's with me?
Where I'm at. I love the idea of the Pixel but find it terribly overpriced considering the limitations of Chrome OS at this point. Hope the existence of the Pixel means that we get more third-party work done on developing apps for Chrome OS that are going to call for super flashy hardware like that.

Re: I want a Chromebook Pixel, who's with me?
Yea I think Google just needed to get a premium product out there, lose money on it, but develop a base to build on. Right now to me it makes zero sense to get one compared to a better priced PC with way more functionality. I'd love to be able to step off the M$ bandwagon but for that I might as well just try Linux.

Re: I want a Chromebook Pixel, who's with me?
Or buy a Pixel and dual boot Linux!
I'll admit that the Pixel is an expensive piece of machinery and a comparable Windows 8 laptop can be had for about $700-800, but you do lose out on some things (display quality, unibody aluminum, Chrome OS and uniquely designed keyboard set up for Chrome OS, etc). For me, I see the Pixel as a device that is ahead of it's time and will inspire other OEMs to create mid-higher end Chromebooks. I may end up buying a Pixel later in the year after Google I/O because it does make sense to me, but I also know I'm paying a bit more for something that should only cost around $999. The one nice thing is with any Chromebook currently, is that you're inspiring and influencing how Chrome OS is designed and implemented. You ARE a co-designer for this operating system. There are things on the Pixel (touch screen) that aren't on any other Chromebook currently so certain features to alter have to be influenced by Pixel owners. Personally I don't see myself going back to a traditional laptop ever again. The only thing I would say is that I still retain a desktop at home for gaming and local file storage just in case (thanks Chrome Remote Desktop).

Re: I want a Chromebook Pixel, who's with me?
I agree it depends on who you are but the connectivity issue is huge for me. Providers charge so much for bandwidth Is hate to have to rely on it. After a few years of catching on it will definitely become more attractive to the main stream. Android is linux based so you can probably find a distro that is very similar!
