Help! My screen turns off while I am using the phone.

Sometimes when I am using my phone the screen will turn off. I may be writing a text message or flipping through Facebook, but the screen will turn off as if it timed out or I pressed the power button. It does this sometimes even while my finger is still on the screen, so it isn't that it is just timing out after 30 seconds of non-use.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Does it have a case with a flipcover? If so, is it folded in back when you're using it? Flipcovers usually have an embedded magnet that is used to trigger the smartcover sensor (which causes the screen to sleep). If the magnet is too strong, then it might intermittently trigger the sensor when the cover is folded behind.

Are you using an app that uses a proximity and/or gravity sensor? If not try clearing the phones cache.
