Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!
I doubt it. But damned if there isn't a section in the user guide draft.

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
Looks like its capable of being a world phone but would need a firmware update to enable it
There's a new phone with a 10 GHz Octo-core processor with a 5.4" 1080p display that's coming out 3 months after you buy your next phone. - 08-07-2011, 04:03 PM #6

I noticed in the user guide it didn't say Bionic, it said something like Welcome to you XT8something

Should've been XT875, which IS the model number for the Droid Bionic. I dont have the manual up right now, but if you're specifically referring to the section regarding GSM, not sure... but I know 'Bionic' is mentioned at least in a few places... and if I remember correctly it was the first page of the last 'set' of pages in the manual where you see the Grey backround with Droid Bionic clearly written.

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
Does this mean you can do data & talk on 3G like the thunderbolt?

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
No it is not like the Thunderbolt!!!
Simultaneous Voice and Data, here is a chart that was in one of the reports.
According to it, you CAN NOT do Voice (CDMA 1x) and Data (1x or EVDO), like you can on the HTC ThunderBolt.
But You can do Voice (CDMA 1x) and Data (LTE or Wi-Fi).
There is also a statement that says "The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can not transmit simultaneously. CDMA supports both voice and data transmission, though not simultaneously. LTE and Wi-Fi support data transmission only"

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
It sounds like it COULD be legit, but if it isn't, not a big deal, I just get a fancy MP3 player if I leave the US. I don't leave the US that much so, not a big deal to me. Guess it could be a big deal to those who leave the US though

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
And also...I try not to trust the government anymore, so I'm finicky about this GSM idea with the current model. They didn't test it, so the manual could just be crappy stuff they threw together because they had to.

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
It does not do 2/3G GSM. Nowhere in the FCC filing is there any information on radio tests on 2/3G GSM frequencies which would have been required. (LTE is GSM after all...so can't say it doesn't do GSM in general
) The 'manual' is clearly just a hodgepodge of things thrown together to satisfy a filing. Heck there's Droid X/X2 pictures in it...

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
I would just like to point out that the DROID3 and PHOTON 4G's FCC Fillings don't mention GSM either.
I don't think the FCC tests radios that aren't active or going to be used in the US.Thanked by 2: - 08-10-2011, 09:44 PM #21

Re: Droid Bionic does CDMA, LTE *and* GSM?!?!
Hmmm then that means this is entirely possible. I could understand why, they probably wouldn't care about the GSM radios that are only used outside the US. It would probably be better for them to test it since they already are testing the other radios, but they can do whatever they want. If this ends up being true, it could be pretty cool, especially for those who travel a lot.
