I live in a non 4g area. Why should I get the bionic over staying with my droid x2. I am not unhappy with my x2 but I am always ready to upgrade. Any thoughts? I apologize if this has already been asked. By the way I tried the thunderbolt and the 3G signal was awful.

Are you happy with the X2? If so, I'd just wait until some of the Fall/Winter devices come out. There's a lot of great stuff on the horizon.

If you're jonesing to upgrade ASAP, the Bionic is going to future-proof you. You'll get 4g eventually, and it'll be nice to be ready for it when it happens. Although, it sounds like you upgrade frequently, so that's probably not a concern either.

I'd just wait if I were you.

Not that the Bionic won't improve on the Droid X2 in more ways than just LTE, but if I were you I would hold off. If you enjoy your phone its not worth the money in my eyes to upgrade to the Bionic. I would just ride it out until you get 4G in your area and then upgrade.

I on the other hand will be ordering a Bionic as soon as I can but I live in a 4G area and will be going from the OG Droid to the Bionic, which is a lot bigger of a leap than the X2 to the Bionic.

My plan has always been to upgrade when LTE came to my city. That day was today. The best phone that will be out is either the Bionic or the GS2. I will give it a few weeks and jump once I know which is best.

Long story short....Wait for LTE and jump on the best phone at that time.

I would definitely go LTE!

Bottom line is you're stuck w/your choice for 2 years or so but VZW is working pretty aggressively to upgrade their network city by city. LTE phones speak 3G just fine, and will work fine in that context. Admittedly the battery life might not be quite as good as a regular 3G phone but when you either visit an LTE city or when LTE comes, your'e good to go.

The Bionic and all the current generation LTE phones are all transition phones. They can talk to the old and the new, same as my old T720 and v710 were. Eventually though, we'll be full LTE everywhere and VZW will start selling phones with only LTE radios in it.

If cost is a major factor, the X2 isn't a bad choice, but that's really the ONLY thing I would put in its column.

I city is on the list to get 4G this year. Either way I will get the bionic so I'll be 4G ready. Also I travel some so 4G definitely makes sense.

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

I was concerned about the 3g radio. My x2 is starting to act up and I do upgrade often.

im going to be upgrading to the bionic from an OG droid. i don't currently live in a 4g area, but i'll be planning for the future when we will have it. my upgrade just became available the other day and i'm anxiously awaiting having a droid bionic in my hands. when the vigor/prime come out i may end up selling off the bionic for one of those.

Be careful because every htc phone I have owned has never been as good as motorola. I should say that I have owned almost all of them. I am sticking with moto.

If you dont have 4g at the moment or are not in dire need of a new phone i would hold off. The only way i would override this at the moment would be if you travel alot to 4g cities and use your phone for access.
Me personally, if i were in your position, I would wait till you have 4g and get the best phone available at that time.

There is also a bunch of new phones coming out in the next few months. Moto included. Probably will be worth the wait.

If you already have a dual-core phone and LTE isn't in your area yet, why do you feel the need to upgrade at all? Wait until your area gets LTE, then pick up the best LTE phone available at the time.

I was thinking that my area mightbget lte soon and that the bionic would be better in the long run. Plus my dx2 has been sporadic lately and it is getting on my nerves. I am always looking to upgrade early, I guess I have a cell phone addiction, haha.

If stability is what you seek I'm not so sure the Bionic would be the best choice for you really. Considering it's the first Dual Core LTE device to hit the market there's bound to be issues here and there.

The X2 is still a very new phone. Honestly I would stick with that unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Beyond this there are also a few updates coming soon to the X2 if they haven't already hit.

I figure worse case scenario I don't like it and sell it on eBay to get another phone.

I would upgrade and sell the X2 on ebay. You'd probably get $200 + for it, so you're Bionic (more ram, duel core, video phone calls, latest tech, 4G when your area gets it) cost you $100.

With mint condition and the essential pack I hope to get around 400. I have it on eBay already. Wish me luck. I can use an old tour until the bionic comes.

I'd say it's a good choice. You'll see a much better phone in the Bionic, and it should have just as good of battery as the X2 if you turn off the LTE radio. Go buy the Bionic and if you don't like it, you can always return it or sell it for another phone. There will obviously be something better later in the year or next year, but if you like switching phones really often, then go ahead and try out the Bionic and see how you like it.

I too have the essential pack and a droid x 2 and will be selling that when i get the Bionic. Then I will turn around and sell the Bionic when the Nexus hits Verizon.

Chuck this isn't the first time I agree with you. This is going to be an exciting couple of months.
