Game plan for purchase since there is no pre-order...

Thoughts on this anyone? I was really wanting to pre order the Bionic and not have to worry about any rush or low stock at my local VZW stores. Now that it looks like that is out of the picture, do you think it will sell out in most stores on day 1? I am in Dallas/Fort Worth area, and remember passing 2 stores on my way to work when the Droid X dropped and there were lines outside. If I remember right, within a day or so the phone was on backorder. I definitely dont wanna get stuck with that.

So are you planning on getting their early? Will stores allow you to place a hold on them?

I may buy it online on the 8th (hoping it goes for sale at like 12:01 am) and do next day shipping. This is just in case the local stores sell out before I get off work I will still get mine on the 9th. Still Undecided at this point.

i am calling every day at Noon until I can order it all direct from VZW. i hate hate hate going to the stores.

I'm going down next week to Costco and Verizon to see if they'll hold one for me, or if they'll be available online.

I may just order it online on the 8th and do next day shipping that way no one at the Verizon store will try to give me a hard time for buying it full retail. I read somewhere that they don't like selling phones at full retail because the reps don't make anything off the sale. Can anyone offer insight into whether this is true? If it's not I'll buy the phone in store.

Assuming no pre-order between now and Thursday, I'll be heading to my local best buy and see if I can get it there. If not, I'll head over to the VZW store around the corner from best buy. Any chance they'll put this thing up for online orders on the 7th so we'd get it on the 8th with overnight delivery? Has that ever been done before?

Go in first thing in the morning on the 8th and if they give you a hard time, then just go home and order it online with overnight delivery. Seems like a better plan, yea?

Yeah that would work...now I have to come up with an excuse to go into work late next Thursday...

Bleh, definitely NOT pleased there is no preorder option here. I was really hoping to do this whole thing w/out having to wait until 10am for Costco or the local VZW corporate store to open.

I am hoping that maybe the local store will open extra early like they did for the OG Droid release maybe.

Barring that, I plan to go to Costco and get it that morning. Hoping that 1. They have the bundle and 2. They can handle this upgrade in a manner that doesn't cause any problems.

If Costco doesn't have the bundle, then I might end up at Best Buy.

Why did VZW feel so compelled to make this a pain...

Ordering online with next day delivery. Yes, it'll be another day wait, but not having to deal with the Verizon Store staff is worth it.

I hear you on that one. I hope no one gets the "brilliant" idea of scheduling any meetings Thursday morning for us at work. Fortunately Best Buy is on the way in to my office so not a huge issue other than they open later. When I got my Droid VZW said they were opening an hour early. When I got there a few minutes before that they had already been open for an hour. That wasn't so good but at least they still had them in stock. The Xoom was the real nightmare trying to get in my area. Best Buy definitely lost on that one. We had reservations and they were supposed to call us. Only they never did. So I ended up getting it at VZW and getting my accessories at Best Buy. I will not do another reservation thing at Best Buy again. But the reward zone points wouldn't hurt.

Opening kickoff of NFL that night too. Not thrilled about getting home from work at 6 and trying to get this all sorted out in time to watch TNF.

No Costco membership (apparently I chose wrong in Sam's) so might have to call my Dad and have him let me in under his membership if I want to check out that deal (will appreciate the posts during the day informing me if its worth it). Otherwise I will head to VZW and fight the masses.

It would be awesome if some stores had a midnight release party like game stores/BB do when they release new BIG games. I would for sure be down for that!!

Since we haven't heard word of preorders I have the day off so will be camping that morning at my local VZW store. Hopefully my friend can set one aside but where I live here I don't see that big of a line before they open LOL.

I can only hope that they do that. I'm always up at midnight anyway
