Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
I've tried on multiple occasions and different ways to download from the market the new Droid Bionic ARena app in order to participate in the scavenger hunt. It appears the game will not download onto OG Droids. Has anyone else had that problem?

Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
Yeah, I can get it to run after a fresh boot and have been able to "build" my bionic and set up my account but this app no denying runs just horrible on the OG Droid.
I was chatting w/VZW sales on preordering the Bionic (no, nothing yet but she said there is a chance VZW might reconsider of the weekend) I mentioned this scavenger hunt app ran like crap on the Droid 1." Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
droid-life had posted an apk that sideloads onto the Droid. I haven't tried it, but, it apparently works...albeit very badly. Yea, it's pretty sad that most of us with the Droid are looking forward to the bionic and can't use this app. Irony ensues.

Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
Imagine how *I* feel - I have a Droid Eris! No chance of it working there...
It sounds like there will be an option for people like us (and non-Android users) - The fine print talks about an "I don't have an Android phone" button that will be available on the site. Sounded like it would bring you into Google Maps Street View to do your hunting. Heck, it might be easier that actually having to physically run around using our phones to find the virtual prizes. - 09-02-2011, 06:42 AM #11
Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
I have an OG Droid running CM 7 and it runs fine. I just have to kill everything with Advanced Task Killer first. If I don't it restarts my phone a few minutes into it. My Droid is overclocked to 1 GHz too, but when I drop it to 600 MHz it still runs.
Try a fresh reboot and kill everything you can with a task killer and it should work. - 09-02-2011, 08:01 AM #12

Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
I emailed Verizon about not being able to use the OG Droid for the contest. They called me back and said that this isn't a Verizon contest and that its a Moto contest so there was nothing they could do. I explained that I linked to the site directly from verizonwireless.com and they told me that you can link to a lot of sites from verizonwireless.com but that didn't mean they sponsored the contest. I told them how it says right on the contest page that its sponsored by verizon wireless. they didn't believe me. The rep said that she "didn't have that" I repsonded "you don't have the internet" she didn't understand what I meant so I told her to go to the droid does site. She refused to look it up and just kept saying it wasn't a verizon contest, it was sponsored by moto and they weren't given any information. apparantly verizon doesn't tell their reps what's going on and refuses to let them on the internet.

Re: Droid Bionic ARena Not for Droid OG
I tried to install the app from the market and it said it wasn't available for my phone. I tried using appbrain, and it wouldn't install using that either. I sideloaded the apk, installed it and it would force close within seconds of starting. I uninstalled it, reinstalled and got force closes/reboots. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again, and apparently the third time's a charm. I was able to build the bionic with no problems. I kept it running for another few minutes and no force closes or reboots. Looks like maybe it likes my OG after all. Can't wait to try it out at the stroke of midnight. Hopefully I can get it to work so I can enter the contest and have my 1 in 939757038916 chance of winning
