IMAP Email Account Disappeared

I was sending an email out today from an imap email account through the email app and the app crashed. I got a message saying something to the effect that "email app has unexpectedly quit working" When I went back into the email app my account was gone. I force quit the app and did a soft and hard reset still nothing. I then started to go through the process of re-adding my account and when I do I get an error message that the account has already been added and it wont let me re-add my info. So now I'm stuck without any of my email and no way to reconnect it. I have seen a few threads on other forum sites but no real resolution. Has anyone else had this issue. I tried searching the forums and didn't find anything. If i cant depend on this phone for email it may as well be a paperweight.
