Default Anyone else have a creaky battery door?

The battery door on this phone seems incredibly creaky to the point where it annoys me. I LOVE this phone, but the creaking door sucks. I wish I never took off the battery door because it seemed a lot tighter before I "loosened" it up by removing it a couple times (I remember removing the battery door for the first time was pretty difficult). I am considering getting a new battery door and just never removing it if it will fix this issue :-P. Picking up the phone and squeezing near the top/bottom and sides is where the creak happens. It doesn't do it whatsoever of course if the battery door is off.

Anyone else have this? It's not a huge deal, but I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

Mine was doing it, but I just had the phone replaced today because it was acting wonky, and the new one is nice and tight.

I'm not gonna lie. I exchanged my phone for a new one for this reason alone. I compared my bionic with a friend's and his was creak-free. My new one is also now creak-free. I can't say the same for the extended battery door though.

Do you think just getting a new battery door would fix the issue? They're only five bucks at Verizon.

Easy solution. I did it 2 days ago.

Get some electrical tape. Cut out about 5 or 6 one inch strips and stick them on the inside back of the battery door. Center them in the middle of where the battery would hit the door.

Put the strips one over the other - that will create enough pressure to stop the creaking.

Even if you get a new phone the more you open it the more it will creak - this is a permanent solution.

I cut a business card to fit on the battery and replaced the cover (regular battery), the creak is gone. Not really enthused to do that on such an expensive phone but I could not stand the creaking.

Worked perfectly! Thanks! It feels so much more solid now.

That's why I went and got a small roll of electrical tape rather than something like a business card. I don't want anything to damage it.

Good idea. I'm gonna try that on the extended battery door when i get home or during lunch if i can find some electrical tape.

Same thing I do with my flashlights to make the batteries fit tight!
Motorola Droid Bionic 4g LTE - Motorola Xoom Tablet 4g LTE
And yes, the SIM card from the Bionic works great in the Xoom!

Worked great on my extended battery cover. It was WAY too loose and now it fits perfectly!

Kind of irritating that the build quality doesn't handle the door being removed without creating the creaking though. They sell an external battery charger with an extra battery for crying out loud. You're pretty much guaranteed to be pulling that back door off a lot with that.
The electrical tape solution works, but not happy that I had to do it on a new phone.

The build quality of the phone is superb IMO. Its that POS plastic battery door. I wish they used a metal cover instead. I'm fine as long as the creak is gone! Glad the electrical tape solved it. I never really remove the battery door. I removed it the first time just out of curiosity. The only time I would open it now is if I had two batteries.

I agree the door should have been steel like they did on the OG Droid. However since this is a very simple fix and now I get to play with roll of extra electrical tape at work I'm happy.

I agree they should have kept the metal door that was used on the OG and Droid X but I'll try the electrical tape solution tomorrow.
