Default photo albums disappeared from gallery

I have about 10 albums set up in the gallery. Today all the albums were gone. All the photos were still there but the albums were gone. Had to re-create them and move several hundred photos back into the albums.

    Anyone else had this happen?

    What would cause it?

I noticed a large loss in pictures after I tossed my SD card into my bionic coming from my Tbolt. Not sure why though

The way the bionic partitions its data is different from other phones. I think that causes issues. I hate the stock gallery on the bionic, so I switched to quickpic.

I had constant troubles with gallery crashing, not showing media that was previously there etc. Eventually I found a .nomedia file on the parent folder of the DCIM folder which housed the photos.
It wasn't in the DCIM itself (where I was looking) just in the same folder as the DCIM. It was also screwing up Quickpic which I had installed. Removed that one nomedia file and all was back to normal.

    /mnt/sdcard/DCIM
    /mnt/sdcard/.nomedia - erased.

no idea which program put that nomedia file in there, but it was damn annoying.
