So, the 8 months between when they announced the phone at CES and when they released it wasn't enough time? The update is finished and is now going to be tested for 30 to 60 days. They're not adding new fixes in that time.
Doesn't the OP say that "we have a version in the testing stage"? That suggests the fixes are finalized and they are doing regression testing to make sure they don't blow up the verizon network.![]()
Yes but that does not mean that the version in testing is the complete version. The version I have, for example, gives you system version 5.5.893, a new kernal and new radio files. 5.6.893 is out as well which has some other minor radio upgrades, as well as 5.7.893 which I think is a small upgrade for the LTE radio... point is, a "version" in testing doesn't mean its complete yet![]()
I would like to point out that it has to go through 2 rounds of testing. One from Moto's side. And then from VZW's side which is significantly longer. Hence, if they are not testing a final version of this right now, we're DEFINITELY looking towards the 60 day end of this rather than the 30 day end. That is definitely, without a doubt, NOT a good thing. The idea that they're going to take the time and work out "all the issues" is ludicrous. They're never going to release an entirely bug free version. The longer it takes, the longer we have to live with a phone that DEFINITELY has problems. I've been running into issues myself that are extremely frustrating. I've lived with it because it was claimed that the fix would be out in November. I was hoping by at least mid-November. Now it's looking like the end at the earliest, and given past history, that's extremely unlikely. 3 months for the first patch to come out is a bit ridiculous IMO. If Moto is spreading itself too thin by releasing too many phones to support, well, I know what I'd do if I were in their place. But I'm not, and all we can do is wait and hope that a fix gets released this year. Those thinking that ICS will be out before March are sadly kidding themselves. I LOVE the Bionic. Please don't get me wrong. I'm just frustrated because a patch NEEDS to get released, and delaying it in the hopes that they will get ALL the issues solved is absolutely insane. It's just not realistic. As a software engineer, I can tell you that for certain.
Well, I agree that you're probably looking toward the end of that 60 day timeline. I'll just throw in there that I can always be wrong and am certainly no authority on the topic, I'm still fairly new but I've been following closely and try to be pretty confident before I make statements. Though I'm not trying to instigate a panic, and again, am no authority on the matter.
EDIT: I also never believed the Bionic would see ICS before around March earliest, but I try not to throw out speculation that I can't back up with some evidence.
What do they test in these things? Users had the phones for a couple hours before we noticed these bugs. Why can't they find them before releasing?

Does anyone know Moto's tech support phone #?
