Have you complained to Verizon yet?
Ok we all know there are major issues with the Bionic. For the past two months, a lot of us have been sticking it out and waiting for this all fabulous update that Motorola is cooking for us.
But I'm curious to know, out of all the people here on this forum, who has actually contacted Verizon about any issues they've been experiencing? Are you waiting patiently for the update, or are you at your wits end?
I was without data connection today for almost 12 hours. I've fiddled and experimented with this phone so much the past few weeks, I think I've reached my limit. I'm visiting my Verizon store tomorrow to see what can be done.Last edited by APeX3181; 11-10-2011 at 10:11 PM.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
If it takes that long for us to get an update, I wonder how long until we get ICS!

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I am on my 3rd bionic awaiting my 4th to arrive. First one started loosing Pixels 4 days aftier purchase. Second one started loosing a couple pixels 2 weeks after purchase. I received a "certified like new" replacement for my 2nd bionic with pixel issues only to find out immediately upon starting it up the rear speaker did not work. Certified like new my ****....
I am currently awaiting my 4th Bionic to be here on Saturday. If this one goes bust I wanna go back to my Droid Charge.JBSourcery powered Gnex

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I've called twice about losing data connection. I'm tired of doing factory resets and having to download everything again. I really like the Bionic, and want it to work!!

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I kinda voted that I am not having issues with my Bionic only because the other categories didn't fit. I gave up waiting on a software fix from Moto/Verizon and went right to rooting the phone and ROMing it up. My experience has been good thanks to the development community (props to the Th3ory team) but I will most likely move to the GN whenever it releases. I do not think the GN is a better hardware device but it's all about the firmware and for me personally a camera. Yes the Bionic will get ICS and I'm already half way there with the Shift3r ICS pax, but it's about future releases that google will release to these devices first. With the purchase of this phone, I got a 4G phone that is nice to play with for a few months until the Nexus comes out. I have no regrets and I have done more with my Bionic then I ever tried on my OG when it comes to leaning the ins and outs of rooting.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I got my phone at Costco on release day. More than 14 days after I got it, I called Verizon and was able to convince them to roll back my upgrade date to the date I got the Bionic, which i then returned to Costco. This allows me to get a new phone (nexus) at the 2 year upgrade price. Obviously I got lucky with who I spoke with.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I complained a few weeks after purchase. My first Bionic didn't have the data problem, but the headphone jack was 100% non functioning so I had to exchange it. The replacement had the data issue so I called Verizon for service and to complain about having two defective devices and to complain about the long string of defective phones they've sold me since the Storm. They surprisingly were honest with the issue, unlike the Verizon store manager who claimed there was no problem at all and I should just give the phone a day or two to let the phone straighten itself out.
The Verizon Rep on the phone actually offered to refund my purchase and allow me to buy another New phone. They had also said that Moto was hard at work and would have a fix very soon if I wanted to wait it out.
I'm really sad that it is going to be a lot longer than originally advertised but I love this phone so much, I'll wait. - 12-03-2011, 04:36 PM #12
Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
Complained via phone to customer support (what a misnomer), and sent email to Pres. of VZW. The next day i got a call from Executive in Customer Relations and my phone was accepted back, even though in the 4th week after purchase (the 2nd Bionic one I might add) with a full refund and a reset of my 2 yr date to the return date. According to the poll here, ~ 54% of Bionic users are experiencing problems. This tells me the phone should not have been released.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
54% of people here are having problems. We don't represent the whole community of Bionic owners. This is the group who is paying attention to every little detail. I bought a Bionic for my girlfriend and she's got no complaints, although, I know there are a few issues with her phone. I called VZW today to complain about some data loss issues, however, that's the only issue I've got. the phone's been great and I can't complain one bit. The update should be a nice addition and ICS will make it's way here in a few months. Patience is a virtue.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I use the phone all the time for work and I have called Verizon tech support twice a day for the last two weeks and it is always the same reply. "I see you have called us regarding your DROID Bionic losing data, let's go ahead and do some trouble shooting. Are you calling on the device right now?"
Personally, I am tired of basic trouble shooting. I am rooted but do not want to install leaked versions of radios or kernals. If I only get data some of the time, then I should only have to pay some of my bill.
The best any reps have done is suggest opening a new line, transferring my info to the new phone, then cancel the new line within the fourteen day trial.
I am losing patience and although the phone is good (the call quality is amazing), I want what I am paying for. Access to data whenever I need it. - 12-03-2011, 10:30 PM #15
Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
If your phone is having problems then you have every right to complain to Moto and Verizon. If the problems are severe enough to make the phone function at a level that is less than acceptable to you then you have every right to be able to return it, and I'm glad you were allowed to return it and get your 2 yr date reset. But to say the phone should not have been released because half of the people here are having problems is just silly. If manufacturers were going to wait until their phones were problem free to release them, there would be exactly zero smartphones available right now. I mean the OG Droid just got an update because there were security problems. Do you think it should have just now gotten its initial release? It sucks that the phone has issues, but that is just the nature of smartphones, but lets not go overboard and start saying they shouldn't be released. As long as they are aware of the problems and working on a fix, i'm all good with it.
There's a new phone with a 10 GHz Octo-core processor with a 5.4" 1080p display that's coming out 3 months after you buy your next phone. - 12-04-2011, 07:55 PM #16
Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I voted that I wasn't having problems, bc I'm not sure if this is really a phone issue or app issue. But I have a few apps that will "uninstall" themselves when the phone restarts, and for some strange reason (probably just a coincidence) it only seems to happen when I have a case on the phone.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I do have issues with apps disappearing and losing connectivity but overall I still like the phone and hope the updates will address all of the issues - If they don't fix it soon I will change the phone or install a ROM.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
Its been fixed with the new 5.7.893 update, in the mean time, move the apps from the externel SD card to the Internal SDcard. They are being deleted off the external due to programming recognizing the external SD as the media storage.
The 5.7.893 update also solves most of the 3g/ 4g drops. I still have them occasionally using after the phone comes out of sleep. Usually a quick plane mode cycle fixes it. The newest unofficial 5.8.894 is also suppose to help but dont DL that one yet.JBSourcery powered Gnex

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I bought my Bionic on 9/8 and went back up to Verizon store on 9/12 due to 3 BSOD and multiple random reboots. We put in a new LTE Sim card, but it rebooted in the parking lot, so they gave me a new phone. In the almost 3 months since then, I have had only 2 BSOD and 2 random reboots. I LOVE my phone otherwise and hope that the OTA update fixes a few issues.

Re: Have you complained to Verizon yet?
I bought my Bionic sometime in late September through my corporation. First few days I noticed that there were random restarts on the phone. I wasn't sure why, so I decided to hit up the forums and see if anyone else was having an issue. I found a few people stating something simlar to mine and some have returned their phone or exchanged, and some waited it out to see if an update would fix it. I figured I should wait and see.
After about a week owning the phone, the restarts stopped. So I thought, it must have been some weird glitch. Didn't think much of it. Keep in mind, I kept the phone unrooted and on stock. About a month into owning the phone, the restarts starting happening again. But this time more frequently. Almost once an hour to the point it kept restarting after a reboot. So I restored the phone and it worked for a short period. Then my phone would restart at the most random moments of typing. When I type a text message or an email on the phone, the keyboard locks up, then goes into the Dual Core screen and reboot.
At this point, I called Verizon. They informed me that an update is coming on its way... Then they asked if I have the standard dock and/or the Car dock navigation. I said yes to both. They stated that this was a known issue and that the OTA update would fix it. So I was furious with the response since this is a business phone. But they weren't willing to send a replacement for me. For shame Big Red!!!! But you do redeem yourselves later on in the story.
I then read that there was a leaked 5.7 update. So I thought to myself, "ok, let's give it a try." I downloaded the update and installed it and it seemed to work fine..... for about a week. After that, it started restarting again. So if Verizon wasn't willing to give me a new phone, might as well root it and find out if I can freeze some apps and see if that is what is causing the issue. That worked for about a couple of days, then the restarts once again.
About 7 days ago, I restored my phone to factory, removed root, etc. I showed the VZ rep at the Verizon store. He asked me the standard questions... Is the phone rooted? etc. I answered that it was stock. He then tested the phone out and luckily for me, it restarted for him! Thankfully, he issued out a replacement order for me. I received the phone about 2 days ago, and so far so good. I have a few app crashes here and there, but who doesn't really.
Lesson learned. Don't bother with Verizon over the phone. They do everything via a procedure method. Take it to an actual Verizon Store, not a reseller store. Let them perform tests and have them issue out your phone. There's something about a comfort level you get when you go into the store vs. having to try to process something over the phone that just makes things infinitely easier on your life. So thank you VZ!!!!
