Bionic Replacement - Alternative Phones?

The new update did not fix my (lack of) 3G/4G connectivity issues with the Bionic since I have had the phone on launch day. Spoke with Verizon today and they are sending me a like new replacement. I asked for a different phone all together, because I don't want to be one of those guys trying their third replacement out.

The Verizon rep said we have to try atleast one replacement Bionic before we can go down the route of trying a different phone.

Has anyone gone down this "route" and switched to a different phone? What phone(s) will Verizon allow me to switch to?

I already had one replacement and getting another this week. I inquired about a different phone before they sent me out the replacement that I will be getting this week. I have 2 bionics and same replacement schedule for both.

If the replacement gives me the same problems which I fully expect I think I am going to request a droid pro and an iphone 4s.

I have been doing this since i had the BB Storm and the OG Droid came out. Tell them it's also your work phone, don't be afraid to keep calling until someone does what you want.

that is such bs. was deciding between the two and now have to be stuck with a non working android over a working iphone.

Getting my (1st) replacement Bionic today. Was without an internet connection for a few hours yesterday. Hopefully the new one will be better....

My 1st replacement is scheduled to arrive today as well. After the update my day 1 phone seems to lose data as often as before the update. If the replacement loses it then I'm going to have to raise a big stink to get something different because that is something that I just am not going to put up with.

If you are having connection problems, try factory resetting your phone instead of returning it for a new one. After an OTA update the system often gets "corrupted" so to speak and needs to be cleaned out. THis will usually fix issues. My Bionic has been flawless after the update, I factory reset before hand, but you can do it after too.

I'm about to make my second trip to a Verizon store. The latest update did not really fix anything except for making the data issue a little better. It did make the camera quicker, but to that's not important.

It did however seem to make the system less stable because I'm now getting more random freezes/restarts and there is definitely something wrong with my alarms when inside the dock (they force close).

I really don't want another Motorola phone ever again. And I certainly don't want a replacement of this phone. I want to see if they will allow me to switch this our for a Nexus...not only because it's a new phone, but because its the newest phone that has pure Android. I think many of these issues happen because Motorola has tinkered with Android in ways that made it unstable and highly unreliable. My OG Droid that was pure Android never had any problems and worked flawlessly for the two years that I had it. Any issues it did have, Google fixed rather quickly.

Was in the store today because of the data losses that i have been having after the update. I never really had that problem before the update. Was on the motorola site and was told to do the factory reset which i did. Watched the cowboys play thru it and the picture was splochy. Then this morning i lost data again now i am waiting on another bionic. We will see what this one is like.

i did the factory reset also didnt solve the problem but seems better although only been a day.

My refurb arrived yesterday but unfortunately the replacement has the same data dropping issues as my day 1 phone did, even after a factory reset. I'm not sure how I should proceed. I really like this phone and have invested in extra batteries, cases, etc...

Is there a limit on how many replacements they will issue before allowing you to choose a completely different phone?

I have my 2nd Bionic on the way today.

Since my replacement device didn't work out I decided to go a different route this time around. I'm on the phone with Motorola and I am going to send the phone in to one of their repair centers to have it looked over. The down side to this is that they say it will take 5-7 days but since I just got my refurb replacement yesterday I can use that while I send my original device in for repair. I think this (hopefully) will be a better route than continuing to request replacements from Verizon - because I truly believe that the Bionic is the best phone available today (when the data is working!)

I just can't figure it out. Must be dud phones or tower/location issues. Honestly I have zero issues after the update and I know I am not the only one. I have a HW A model. But I also understand that people are having problems. This is what I did, don't know if it helps...

-Factory Reset
-Applied 43v3r root
-Applied update
-Stayed stock but rooted, with bloat frozen. Is it maybe a rouge system app that is causing the issues?
-I keep LTE/CDMa mode on all the time as I am traveling between 4g and 3g areas all the time. IT handles the trade off without dropping data now.

i was having the same problems as everyone else with the data drops, resets, screen blackouts. after my 3rd replacement bionic i had enough, so they offered me a Rezound which i received 3 days ago and it has been fantastic. i haven't had a single data drop since i activated it (besides the nationwide outage this morning). i couldn't be happier with the Rezound right now (the sceen is ridiculous!)

I'm in the same boat as you, I never want another Motorola phone again! Now, I'm stuck with my POS Bionic either until my upgrade date or until I can't stand the bad data connectivity issues!

I hope someone from Verizon reads these forums!

Face it, the Bionic has major flaws and should never have been released. I know because I bought one the first day they came out. I had the fortunate luck of losing my Bionic so I went to Verizon to buy a new one last week and certainly not another Bionic. I bought the Razr and life is good again. Luckily the nearest Verizon was an Authorized Retailer, not corporate store, and he was able to rescind my upgrade on the Bionic and apply it towards the Razr (299.00). This phone is nearly flawless with 4G connection all the time, a camera that works, a battery that lasts longer than 4 hours, a display that is brilliant, the speaker is louder, 2.3.5 version, etc. Take it from a guy who buys the newest phones whenever possible, you'll love the Razr and iPhones suck too.

Got my Bionic replacement going today. So far so good. Not sure if I remember my last Bionic or other phones doing this so ill ask.

While in a 3G area and once on wifi is the 3G icon supposed to disappear? When I turn wifi off it takes a good 20 seconds for the 3G icon to pop back up and my data start working again.

I could swear while on wifi in the past my 3G did not disappear.

Thoughts?

I will be calling and getting my bionic replaced for the 4th time. Perhaps I should push more to get a completely different phone. Too many issue to list.
