Just got a notification for an update to "5.9.901.en.US". Already got my .893 update and wasn't expecting this. Also checked the forums (and google) and didn't see anything. Anyone know what this is? (my bionic has never been rooted)

Re: Update 5.9.901???

I also received the 5.9.901 update this afternoon.

For comparison, here is the 5.5.893 (recent patch) information:

System Version: 5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US
Android: 2.3.4
Baseband: CDMA_N_03.1C.57R LTEDC_U_05.115.01
Webtop: WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-21
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-g68606e6

Here is the 5.9.901 update information:

System Version: 5.9.901.XT875.Verizon.en.US
Android 2.3.4
Baseband version CDMA_N_04.05.00R LTEDC_U_07.1E.00
Webtop version: WT-1.3.0-108_DBN-24
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-g83f1a47
Build Number: 5.5.1_84_DBN-70

The only thing I can draw from this is that there appears to be a significant radio update; the system version and baseband version have changed significantly, everything else shows a minor revision.

That, however, tells us nothing about what the update really does. It could be there is already a new soak test in the works.

Re: Update 5.9.901???

A lot of people are curious if this will install on top of 5.7.893. I guess we'll know soon if those of us that flashed leaked updates are completely screwed or not. :)

Yeah I really want to be back on the upgrade path as well. Hopefully those new radios resolve any remaining data issues.

All I can say to anyone that's currently NOT on the upgrade path, myself ESPECIALLY, is, if we are able to flash this and get ourselves back on the path, let this be a lesson to us all that patience, at least when it comes to updates that mess with radios and kernels on a locked bootloader, is a freaking virtue. :)

... I hate it when I make mistakes and others point them out. ;)

I take it from lonewolf that things went smoothly. Guess I'll stop ignoring it now

Wait, stop! :) Can you accept the download and NOT install it so you can copy it from cache first? It would be MOST appreciated!!!

This just came through on the twitstream:

I'd say this should only apply to those of you concerned about rooting but I'm posting it here just in case..

I've had no problems so far. I usually turn LTE off, but I turned it on and off a few times for testing, with no issues. Wifi, 3G, and 4G browsing all worked fine, and running my apps seems okay; nothing blew up.

I'd post on Motorola's forums to ask questions, but they're down.
