    Default Navigation and Compass Issues

    Hey all,

when I was navigating today my compass started acting funny. If I set my phone on my seat in my truck it said I was facing north while traveling west. It's never done this before, it usually just points in the direction that I travel. Any idea on what's happening, and how to fix it? Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, but I have noticed that tapping on the compass indicator in the Navigation app will change the display from straight-ahead-at-the-top to north-at-the-top. Other programs have even more modes: various perspectives, etc.

I'd guess that this is the issue the OP saw.

If you put a compass or magnetic device close to the engine compartment in a vehicle, it picks up a magnetic field created by the engine. If you move it to a different location within the vehicle, it may work properly.

Also, you might need to reset the compass (directions in preferences).
