Leak must have been plugged
It's been fun over the past few weeks to see those leaks come out so fast and so flowingly. While, yes, I made up that last word, it felt like every 10 - 12 hours we were seeing something new. It was more like 1-2 days without exaggeration, but then suddenly.... nothing....
I'm glad I'm on 232, though. I don't see any real bugs that are on the face of the system. I've been looking too. Everything looks to work really swimmingly. Anyway, they were definitely beating out some sort of bugs there for a day or 5.
Here's to future leaks, may they be of higher version number and as often as possible!
PS - I'm well aware that leaks are rare, just having a good time. - 07-14-2012, 04:29 PM #2
Re: Leak must have been plugged
What it actually means, and this is more exciting, is that we're probably close to a soak test unless any further major bugs are found. 232 looks to me like it's better than the initial RAZR release they got so if they pushed this one out I don't think too many people would be upset. Especially those of us on that leak.
But I do think we're getting close. It's almost a shame I'm jumping ship soon.....ALMOST.

Re: Leak must have been plugged
I did have that as a thought as well, but to me that seemed a little too good to be true, thus I didn't want to jinx it.
Honestly, I have both my and my wife's phones on this build and if it stays here, I'm happy with this just the way it is! - 07-14-2012, 05:21 PM #4
Re: Leak must have been plugged
Well don't forget that 230 was found on the QA server so they're gearing up for the soak test for sure. I don't know where 232 was found but the fact that we've gone a week now without a new leak is a good sign that they're going to do a soak soon. My guess would be in the next week or 2 with a rollout the first or second week of august.

Re: Leak must have been plugged
It's likely it'll be out by then. I mean, this build isn't much different than the RAZR build (as they're trying to unify the builds across hardware) so in theory there should be much less testing that's necessary.

Re: Leak must have been plugged
The kernels are actually similar too, and the actual base is the same. That's why Dhacker is having a ball with the Razr Jelly Bean alpha right now, as he can port it to the Bionic, Droid 4, and Droid 3 very easily with just a little bit extra work for each rather than building from the ground up.
There's a new phone that will run Crysis on Ultra at 120 fps on a 2160p display that's coming out 3 months after you buy your next phone. - 07-14-2012, 10:48 PM #8

Re: Leak must have been plugged
That was my thought as well. It's got to be close.
I keep dithering back and forth about buying a Galaxy Nexus for Jelly Bean and the unlocked bootloader, but I'd give up Swype and the quality Motorola hardware and cheap batteries. I also have a lapdock waiting for ICS.
I still like the Bionic, even as it is, but I miss my old Nexus One in many ways. I don't miss AT&T's craptastic network though. - 07-14-2012, 11:09 PM #10

Re: Leak must have been plugged
I can't blame you. I never have understood why Verizon exerts fascist control over their phones the way they do. They would be better off to release phones with an unlocked bootloader, stock recovery images, binary drivers for the radio and other hardware, and the source code for the open source parts.
I keep forgetting that despite all that has changed in the last several years that it's the same Verizon. I'm tempted to go with a GSM Nexus and either T-Mobile or AT&T. Trouble is the green grass on the other side of the fence is spray paint. - 07-14-2012, 11:52 PM #12
I think developer phones at full retail price are going to be the model for unlockable phones going forward. I'm ok with that model. Those that want to unlock and play shouldn't be doing so with a subsidized phone anyway. As someone on another forum just said... Pay to play.

I know they haven't been in regular testing for long, certainly not as long as the RAZR ICS build.
It wouldn't surprise me to see them roll out the Bionic ICS build right at the Q3 cutoff.
Also keep in mind as far as devices go, they've got a lot of different phones and tablets to work on for Q3 updates.
