Re: ICS next week?
Not publicly.
If I were a betting man, and as I've said before, I'm definitely not....I'd place the soak/ota between Sept 7 and Sept 17. I'd be *SHOCKED* if it were earlier than that. If I had to guess, I'd say it'd be toward the end of that spectrum but I don't know how much pressure VZW is under to certify it and release it. Yes, I realize that is counter to prevailing wisdom. Yes, I know that such a delay REALLY sucks. But, all the info I have points to that being the best guess I can make. Beats me if my info is accurate. I'm assuming it is, but, take it as rumor and speculation only at this point. I have NOTHING confirmed in any way shape or form.

Re: ICS next week?
I hope it comes sooner rather than later for those people who are experiencing data drops or other issues that ICS will hopefully fix. For my part, I'm OK with September, especially if it means more kinks get worked out! The one month difference doesn't seem like a huge deal - again, unless you're waiting for relief from a problem of some kind.

Re: ICS next week?
Yea, let's hope it's a very stable build given all the delays. It should be. 238 is pretty good. Definitely a few minor issues, but, nothing too earth shattering. Any new builds should fix any remaining issues I would think.

Re: ICS next week?
Ok, I'm thinking of biting the bullet on this and going with one of the leaks. I was willing to wait for the first deadline, but with the increase of 4G areas around me, I've been seeing more data drop issues in those new areas. I'm pretty sure installing 232 is the best option right now to get back the OTA path. Just got to go poke around these threads some more and look at the House of Bionic stuff some more to make sure I can get back on the OTA path without data loss.

Re: ICS next week?
Getting back to OTA path without data loss is tricky. You absolutely do NOT want to downgrade to 905, boot into it with ICS data, and then attempt to take an OTA. Personally, I'm going to factory reset when we get to OTA to give a nice clean start on a brand new OS. The keeping data thing is convenient for moving from leak to leak...but in the end, you want a fresh install to get the most out of the OTA. I personally feel that goes for those still on GB, too. Yea, the OTA will upgrade it, but, in the end nuking the baggage is a good way to go.

You can backup and restore apps. Just not system data.

Re: ICS next week?
I personally have switched from TiBu to Rom Toolbox Pro but yes you need root. It's not hard to do though.

Re: ICS next week?
.232 has been rock solid for me. The only issue I'm currently having is about 50% of the time when I remove the phone from the cradle, either desktop or car, the phone locks for about 20 seconds and reboots. Not really a big deal, just annoying.
But yes, I'm ready for the official release. Maybe that will fix the rebooting issue. - 08-20-2012, 02:38 AM #38

Re: ICS next week?
I've also taken the trip and flashed ICS. It was so easy I'm embarrassed to say I was nervous about it. I can tell you that it did fix my data drop problems though I;m only on day 3 of using .232. I did see an app calling My Backup Pro that doesn't require root. I ended up deciding that I'm just going to do a factory reset before I take the OTA, so I haven't used the app.

Re: ICS next week?
Daughter transitioned well from web top 2 to 3 on a 500 with her Maxx. Connected my wife's stock bionic with GB to the 500 and she now has web top 3.0 on her phone and driving the lap dock without ICS. Limited time to explore further but will update when I can.

Re: ICS next week?
You ARE pulling my chain with that, right? I KNOW you can't seriously be asking. Cause I'm sick of warning people about 235+ and how you can *NEVER GO BACK TO 905*. I don't know how many times I have to say that before people will get that through their heads.
I made it VERY clear in my HoB thread. I've said it about a billion times on pretty much every ICS thread for Bionic. Yet, here we are....

Re: ICS next week?
I wonder if people are confused about what exactly a factory reset is. I know I was (and in some respects still a bit) at first. I thought it was like the phone would wipe everything, os and all, and then reinstall whatever version was on at the factory from a protected partition. I now know that isn't the case, but could see where that line of thinking could lead people to question your warnings, no matter how often you say them.

Re: ICS next week?
Your bio line shows you on 238. You stated that you intend to do a factory reset to prepare for the OTA. I *KNOW* what your warnings were, sir, and I don't appreciate being lectured. But when I see the ROM you are running, and that statement, it appeared there was some method you intended to employ.
I appreciate your hard work. I don't appreciate the tone of response to a reasonable question. Trust me, I won't repeat the mistake. - 08-20-2012, 08:36 PM #46
Re: ICS next week?
You should be on my side of things. It's fun when people don't bother reading. You say you KNOW my warnings. Do you KNOW what the ramifications are to them? A factory reset does nothing but delete your data directory and cache. That's IT. It does NOT touch your system in any way. Root will not even be affected by a factory reset. Anyway, I'm glad you KNOW. When the OTA comes out, you'll figure out how to install it I'm sure.

Re: ICS next week?
i do't know how any of you can say 232 is rock solid.
my email and my gmail aren't working properly and i can't play my music. plus no way to add widgets. and an occasional freeze up.or screen stutter or going to sleep and not waking up.
i've hated this phone since day one with all it's quirks. and this 232 is leaving me more helpless for a phone. - 08-21-2012, 04:48 AM #49a.k.a. RyZR from HoFo
