The Soak Test Begins....

Yes, that's what I've been saying, BUT, there's a problem with that theory. Let's hope it pans out but they sent out more invite emails today and no one's gotten a confirmation email. So we'll see what happens Friday afternoon and whether we see reports of people getting confirmation emails and soak builds pushed. And it'll be interesting to see what build it's going to be. Reports are that moto hasn't decided yet. 246 or 247...

What is the major difference between 246 and 247?

There isn't any difference except one. 247 contains a patch that will allow jb to install over ics. Just like we got 905 to enable ics to install over gb. If we get 246 then moto has made the decision to not put jb on the bionic. If we get 247 there's a chance.

It looks like .246 is it, so the Bionic will finish its run on ICS, which is a fair to middlin' OS in its own right. The good news is that we'll all be eligible for that $100 consolation prize that Motorola is offering.

I would be perfectly content with ics as gingerbread in my areas spotty service is so bad my phone is slower than the internet was on my Motorola rocker back in the day! No joke..

Sure, if you're willing to part with your Bionic for the trouble. I don't find any of this situation to be tolerable. The ICS update was delayed...for what? So we could get the last update so late that there's now no possibility of getting a JB update, which would run perfectly well on our phones, due to the closing support window? This is ok? Not to me. I'm very pissed off tbh. Nonetheless, the House of Bionic is ready to support 246.

It really makes one wonder what Soni's "plan for Bionic" was in order to make up for the "raw deal" we got. I'm thinking it was 247 so we could get Jelly Bean. But...I wouldn't be surprised to learn Moto is giving us 246 due to pressure from Verizon. Or perhaps Verizon flat-out refusing to allow a JB-upgradable Bionic. After all, they need some kind of carrot to dangle in our faces in order to get us to bite on a new 2-year contract. Plus, with the new RAZRs not even shipping with JB, I doubt they'd want a year-old phone to get its hands on it either.

Still, if Bionic ICS runs as smooth and stable as it does on my wife's Incredible 4G and my Galaxy Tab 2, I won't be complaining.

so if i didn't get an email confirmation does that mean that I won't be included in the soak test? I filled out the survey on survey monkey when i got my initial email like everyone else about a week ago.

I don't think anyone's gotten email confirmations. Yet the soak has apparently started. So who knows. Check for updates once in a while and see what happens. :)

Look, I'm not trying to rain on people's JB parade but here's the issue. Our phone has EOL in March. That's 4.5 months. Look how long it took to get ICS on this phone. You're basically saying they can do 2 updates in 4.5 months....I'm gonna go with not likely. Sorry.

So does that mean i can manually update at 12:01 --- probably a dumb question but i thought id ask hah

I doubt that. They're going to push it out in batches for a week before opening it up for pull.
