Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Ok, so I have been running gummycharged FE 2.0 for a few months now with no real problems. Just today I was browsing around on the internet and it locked up completely and auto restarted. Not the weirdest thing, but not that common either. Phone restarted normal, went through its regular media scanner stuff and I thought everything was good. I look down a minute later and it auto restarts again! Does its thing, boots back up again, and then immediately auto restarts again for the third time!
Although now, it will not start up at all. It just hangs at the Samsung screen. The only way to get out of it is a batter pull. I tried to let it go for about 5 minutes but never changed, just hung at the Samsung logo. I can get into CWM no problem, but can't get my phone to boot up at all now. I haven't made any changes (besides updating regular apps through the market) since I installed 2.0 a few months ago.
Any ideas? - 11-01-2011, 12:18 PM

Additionally. I just tried popping in the battery and plugging it into my wall charger. It begins to go to the screen with the battery where it charges green but just hangs there too. The battery appears with the spinning circle in the center and stops there.

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
If I was you, I would go into CWM, wipe data/reset and flash GummyCharged again. Not saying that's the best way to fix your problem, but if I was in your situation, that's what I would do.
Or, if you have made a backup somewhat recently (in CWM) try restoring to that.[Every time a phone gets rooted, an angel gets its wings.] - 11-01-2011, 03:18 PM

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Anderain,
Did you restore from a save or a new flash from clockwork? If you have not yet, I would erase dalvik cache and then try a fresh flash from your .tar in clockwork. I did have a similar problem which appeared to be random on Gummy Froyo 2.0. I am now on Gummy Gingerbread 2.1 and have not had that issue yet. Plus it is fast. Sorry if your data is gone.
Let us know...

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Had enough of the stuff backed up, none of the data is an issue at this point. I wiped and reflashed 2.0 through CWM. I was planning on going right to GG 2.1 like you did, but when i tried to download through my phone is when I realized that the SD card was locked. So I booted back into CWM, applied the sd card fix and restarted but i'm still locked out.
Once I charge up my battery this morning I'll try a full wipe of everything again. However right now, I can't access any of the files on my sd card through CWM either. - 11-02-2011, 09:31 AM

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Alright, heres what I did.
1. Rebooted in CWM
2. Wiped data/factory reset
3. Wiped cache partition
4. Wiped dalvik cache
At this point I couldn't reflash because I forgot I couldn't access my SD card, I kept getting the "e:can't mount /sdcard" message whenver I went to install zip from sd card.
5. Took off the back and pooped out the SD card and put it right back in. Seemed to work
6. Flashed 2.0
7. Flashed kejar's sd card fix
8. Rebooted through CWM
Phone starts up, do all the set up stuff, but still can't access my sd card or anything. Booted back into CWM just to see and was getting the "e:can't mount /sdcard" error again and couldnt reflash anything, so back to step 1.
Here's a list of other things I have done since the original crap out a few days ago that might be affecting this.
1. Yesterday I tried reflashing 2.0 and it seemed to be boot looping again. So I just wiped data and cache partition and flashed 1.9.1 that I had on my SD card. Was having the same problems so that was the only time I tried it. Not sure if built in kernels might affect anything or whatever.
2. After it seemed like I had a stable 2.0 again last night. I flashed blue CWM because I've had yellow this whole time. I also flashed EP1 radios through ODIN because I was planning on going to GG 2.1 (I was following your video dave! its awesome btw
).
I'm not sure at what point I lost access to my SD card. Ive read a lot this morning about voodoo lag fix affecting things. Could this be a problem with what I've done? - 11-02-2011, 10:36 AM #10
Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
You could always try to use ODIN and flash the GummyCharged file. That might "reset" everything. If I'm not mistaken, flashing and ODIN file overwrites everything anyway.

Don't panic, we'll get you fixed up in a jiffy. The reason I suggested ODIN is I got myself into a nasty bootloop/soft brick at one point. No matter what I wiped or flashed in CWM, nothing worked. I flashed GummyCharged (I think it was the GummyCharge FE 1.9.1 ODIN file) and that fixed my phone.

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Something interesting I just noticed. If I take the SD card out when phone is off, boots up normal and stays on no problems (Yet!
)
Ive had it in all these other times and it would loop a few times on start up and take about 6 minutes to do so. After anywhere from 2-20 minutes once it said Preparing External SD Card it would crap out and I would have to restart... - 11-02-2011, 12:07 PM #15

Haha, amazing! Dug up my SD card from my original moto droid and everything works. Popped it in and immediately recognized it. I'm just suprised that the SD card could mess with the phone as much as it did. Also interesting that I could still flash things through CWM. Either way, thanks to all of you!

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
Yeah. Since you can't mount your SD card in CWM, you'd have to get one of those adapter cards. I have one where it's the size of a normal SD card and there's a slot to insert your micro-sd card into it. And my laptop and desktop both have media stations that have an SD card slot. Very convenient feature to have.

Re: Help! - Stuck on Samsung boot screen!
What do you mean by locked? Usually CWM is before you boot the device up so it being locked is immaterial
