There is currently no way to root with ED2 without using ODIN and flashing a ROM.

You can use jt1134's Root/Kernel/CWM it will give you root, update the kernel so you have ext4 file system instead of rfs (samsung proprietary) file system and it will give a serious boost in performance. From there you can freeze or remove bloatware at your choosing.

Please keep in mind that you MUST, disable voodoo lagfix before you factory reset, or attempt to flash any non-voodoo supported ROM (if you decide on a custom ROM). If you do not disable voodoo lagfix and attempt to factory reset you will cause serious issues on your device.

Rebooting into CWM Recovery is simple and safe, plus the ability to disable voodoo lagfix is in jt1134's CWM Recovery.
