After 2 days of trying and almost returning my phone I have found out why wireless tethering does not work on some peoples computers.
these are the steps i used to get wireless tethering working on windows 7
click the start menu
go to computer
right click on computer
left click on properties
left click on device manager
look for network adapters
now you may see more then one icon
you MUST DISABLE ALL ICONS BESIDES THE ICON THAT CORRESPONDS TO YOUR WIRELESS NETWORKING ADAPTER.
after doing this the verizon official hotspot works for me as well as wireless tether app for rooted phones hope this helps somebody!
