Many of us don't like the search bar...

I like many others do not like the Google Search on my home screen. I have an HD Maxx so I posted this on those forums but here it is for all of you too. There is no way to just remove it by holding the button. You must disable the application completely thus making it unavailable for any screen. Google will however work in Chrome so no big deal.

Settings < Apps < All Apps < Google Search Bar < Disable

The space can't be used for anything else but its a lot less cluttered. To enable, just go to where All apps and scroll to the bottom where all disabled apps are.,

Yea that does look a lot better. Its such a bummer though that its just empty space. I wonder if this might change with jelly bean.

There really isn't any space to put more shortcuts in so I guess it doesn't matter. I just like the less cluttered look to be honest.

I'm the opposite, I like having that search bar.... reminds me of the Just Type bar from webOS. I have very few apps on my home screen, and prefer to stack my apps on multiple docks with Nova Launcher. To each their own

I'm with Eclipse2K, i like less clutter on my home screen too. Other than the main launcher, I only have my weather/time widget and circle launcher widget.

Odd, my search bar showed up again today but its unusable since its disabled. I'll work on getting rid of it later but that is a weird situation.

You might also try an alternate launcher like Apex or Nova - both work well, are fast, and full of options for customization.

This nothing new. It is on nearly all new Android phones. And remember if you use alternate launcher you lose the Motorola widgets.
