Widescreen camera 6MP vs. 8MP

What do you all think of the widescreen option for the camera? I love how the picture takes up the entire screen, but is 6MP good enough quality? Picture quality does seem to show a lot of noise/fuzziness. Share your thoughts!

Is it just the same photo with the top and bottom cropped off?

I believe the 6mp camera is a lower resolution. 8mp seems more crisp, but produces a more square-ish photo output. I prefer the higher resolution because the 6mp is just way too blurry.
