rooting issue

hello everyone, i just received and unlocked razr hd with 4.1.2 jellybean on it from a friend. I haven't been able to locate a forum to help me root it. My friend said it was rooted and all i would have to do is use an adb loader to regain access but i have had no luck. unfortunately with this particular test phone much of the bloat is still loaded. I was not sure with this version if the root back to ics already listed on the sticky would still work with this setup or not. thank you ahead of time for any help or proper links you can offer me. oh, my phone is also having trouble linking up to the pc and the motorola utility no starting with usb debugging on.

Download the Razr HD Utility. (Google It)
It has flash back to ICS included, will root, and install Voodoo OTA Root Keeper.
I just did it on mine.
