Default How to add widgets to the LockScreen widget list?

I have found how to enable lockscreen widgets, but few are on the available list.

I would like to add phone and Handcent, but neither of those are on the list of available lockscreen widgets.
I've googled this several times and found no help.
Why did they take away lockscreen shortcuts?

Are you on KitKat? The availability of lockscreen widgets depends on the app developer. Not all widgets available for your homescreen can be used on your lockscreen--in fact, only a small proportion of those apps have available lockscreen widgets. You're best off searching Google Play for lockscreen widgets that might do what you're looking for. Since the Google Play search function still isn't that great, try a basic Google search on the web for something like "Android Handcent lockscreen widget."

    Thanks, B.Diddy. Yes, KitKat. Apologies.
This makes sense if most app widgets are not yet supported, but I would think the stock phone app would be one that is supported.

I found and tried Galaxy Locker, on the Play Store, while it did provide lockscreen app shortcuts, it made the phone laggy and used much battery.

I reckon I'll keep digging / wait for future additions.

The stock Phone app doesn't have a native lockscreen widget on stock Android. There isn't one on my Nexus 5 either.

I reckon it was a Moto thing in JellyBean, but I miss it.
