App to shut off notification LED?

So far, I really love this phone, but I'm having some trouble finding an app to shut off the notification LED when I sleep. It's incredibly bright. I've been putting a sock on top of it, but I'd like to find a better, if not cheaper solution. I keep thinking some kind of bedside dock feature is what I want but I don't see it built in. The clock on the phone is kind of useless as it does not allow music to be the alarm tone. So I picked up Alarm Clock Extreme, but it doesn't have a feature to shut off the LED.

Any ideas? I tried Light Flow, but it never worked right on my Maxx and don't want to use it on my Maxx HD.

Excuse my ignorance, but can't you just flip the phone over? I don't have one yet and am considering one when I can upgrade my Thunderbolt next month. I flip my phone over at night to avoid the light.

You are of course 100% correct. I could flip it over, but would then have to flip it back over to turn off the alarm in the morning. Heck... I might wake up if I have to flip it back over to shut off the alarm. I wouldn't want that to happen.:D

Working great on my Maxx HD.

I didn't try it on my HD, but on my regular Maxx it didn't work so well. It kept flashing even when there were no notifications and some other notifications would be ignored. I could give it another try if there are no other solutions. I have to admit, that is about the only thing I really miss from my Blackberry days. It had so many setting to create profiles that could do anything I wanted with notifications and ring tones.

LOL! I used the app "Gentle Alarm" that goes into snooze if you flip it over. Very handy. :D

I also had it on my maxx and it was working great. I've turned all led notifications off except for sms and mms. I get way too many emails and i'm sure the light flashing will reduce battery life (not that you should have to worry about it). :p

I just use the "Smart Actions" built in, and I get no notification LED during the specified timeframe.

I use an app called Bedside. I did pay for it but I love it because it allows me to turn off all notifications for SMS, email etc., while still allowing calls to come through (all or I can create a whitelist). I don't want to be woken up for text messages and such, but if I'm getting a call in the middle of the night it's for a reason and I want it to come through. The other thing nice about bedside is that it can display a nightime clock that can be personalized (different fonts and colors for the time display, etc.). I keep my real alarm clock across the room and have found the older I get the harder it is to focus in on what time it is. Using Bedside on my phone next to my bed means I can easily and quickly see what time it is in the middle of the night. It also has alarm functionality.

The pre-defined Sleep SmartAction lets you identify the numbers whose calls you will accept at night. They're called VIPs and you simply select the VIP caller mode action in the Sleep rule.

The VIP caller mode concerns me because if someone is calling me in the middle of the night and it's a TRUE emergency, there's a good chance the number being called from is not a number my contact already has. For example (and god forbid), the police calling. Or a witness to an accident who is calling on behalf of my son or husband (per their request). For me, I want ANY middle-of-the-night call to come through in case that is the scenario.

And actually something like that did happen back in June, but during the day. My husband was rear ended so hard he had his glasses ejected from his face and his phone landed somehwere in the vehicle and he couldn't find it. So the call I got on my cell phone was in fact from a number I didn't recognize.

But I should also point out I am a middle-aged woman and therefore I don't have drunken friends ringing me up in the middle of the night trying to convince me to go to a party or something like that. So I know a call in the middle of the night is an emergency or a genuine misdial. I've never gotten a call in the middle of the night that wasn't one or the other.

Is there any reason why the LED has to flash after reaching full charge? It's ridiculous.

I'm a middle aged man HOPING for a late night call inviting me to a party (that isn't a wrong number. LOL)

Install light flow and turn off all led notifications. Works perfectly.

Am I missing something? I got a Razr MAXX HD on launch day and just now noticed that my LED hasn't lit up once. After looking on this thread I noticed that people are talking about using the Smart Actions app thats built in to manage some of the LED actions for the Sleep Rule. I don't even have the option for any notifications in my Sleep Rule in Smart Actions. Anyone have any ideas? I'm about to backup and do a Factory Reset to see if something was "jacked" from the get-go.

be proud. dont shut it.

you should be proud you have one. my crap galaxy s2:'(:'( doesn't even have that....

Re: be proud. dont shut it.

actually motorola has an app called notification light widget. It will let you shut off the light for as long as you want to, without disabling background sync.
