I use hancent. Its in handcent notification settings to vibrate, beep or no notification sound at all during a call.

I'd really like to know an answer to this. Android seems to handle notifications in a call very poorly. I was using a friends iphone and it simply vibrated for a split-second. When I pulled it away to look at it, it showed a text message.

It really pisses me off when I hear a super loud notification sound in my ear when I get an email or text on a call.

Does that control email and everything else that comes through or just texts?

I'm not certain. I'd assume so, but most people I know with iPhones don't know why that have them.
