So who is now using the phone? What do you love/like about it as well as dislike/hate. I am still up in the air if I should get this phone or keep my TB. What are you first thoughts & impressions?

So Far im impressed very snappy beautiful screen and you know what its still slim as hell get it you will love it

I just stopped by the VZW store at lunch and if I had more time, I probably would have walked out with one. The Maxx feels better to hold than the Razr, The Razr feels awkward, maybe because the edges are so thin it makes it a bit uncomfortable to hold.

I compared it to the Razr next to it and although there is a difference in thickness it does not seem very apparent.

I did not get to try the camera, can you let me know how it is?

I have to say this this is the fastest 4G handset I have ever used much faster at rendering than the new Nexus I returned. The screen is not so hot looking kind of darkish and overly sharp needs more contrast. I hate that white highlight at the bottom of the home screen. Im not liking the only 5 accounts per email provider limit. The phone is still pleanty slim in fact we put them on a table at the store and the Maxx is only slightly higher not much thicker at all.

I upgraded to a Maxx this morning from an OG Droid. Here are my thoughts/impressions.

Initial Impression:

I had been shopping for a cellphone upgrade for a while. The one thing holding me back from getting a new phone was the battery life of 4g products. I still had been shopping and paying close attention to both the Nexus Galaxy and Razr.

When the Verizon rep came out with my Droid Razer Maxx this morning I was a little suprised at how large the device was both thickness and width wise. However the Maxx is really no thicker than my OG droids sliding keyboard so it's still very thin. The Camera bump that the previous Razr had is for the most part gone due to the added battery life and thickness which gives the back of the Razr Maxx almost a uniformly flat back.

This uniform thickness distributes the weight more evenly in the Maxx than in the Razr. This makes the phone a little easier and more comfortable to hold with confidence than the Razr in my opinion.

Coming from the OG droid I'm not used to having a ton of junk installed on my phone, so the sheer number of apps I don't think I'd use, or want suprised me as well. Though I'm sure it's just the standard fare for moto's phones. I've either hidden or uninstalled the apps I don't want now.

The OS is snappy even with the "Formerly known as BLUR" layer running on top of everything. It was in my opinion more responsive to touches, and menu changes than the Galaxy Nexus I had been playing with while waiting for my Razr Maxx to be discovered in the backroom by a verizon rep.

The only real issue I was having was that while typing my "space bar" presses weren't being registered with the standard OS keyboard. I never had that problem on my Xoom, so perhaps it's just the version of Android the Razer is running. Upgrading to SwiftKey largely resolved this issue for me.

I'm not really able to Judge the battery life yet. I picked up the phone this morning from my local verizon store at 9am and shortly after 2pm the battery was around 20%. That said I'm not sure the phone had a full charge when I left the store and today hasn't been the typical example of a "standard use" day as I have been toying around with new features, installing new apps, configuring my accounts, etc.

I use my cellphone as my primary phone for both personal and buisness related calls, so it's important that it's got good battery life and that it actually functions as a phone. So far I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

Hopefully someone can answer my question: Does the Maxx fit in the Razr's Desk Charger/Dock? I'm hoping to pick a Maxx up tomorrow. Thanks!

I'm not going to say it's zippy or snappy... but have not seen any lag.

I'm coming from a rooted Thunderbolt, and previous HTC smartphone... so I've lived with Sense for some time now. It's taking a little while to get to know what Blur looks like and what it does, and also what widgets it has... and setting up all my apps, and screens... and being rooted I've lived with CyanogenMod7 as well.

It's a little bigger, height and width, but skinnier and lighter than the Thunderbolt. I really like the screen resolution, even after turning the brightness down.

Impressions after a few hours... I really like it!!!

So, no complaints then? Hehe

Sent from Outer Space

No complaints... however, I would recommend Beautiful Widgets, which I've used on some ROMs like CyanogenMod... but I'm sure there are other clock and weather widgets in the Market. :D

I want one of these so bad but I hate knowing I'll be locked into another contract again, and there's no way I could ever buy the thing out right. Oh will.

Sold a few today, and I have to say I love the weight and feel of the device. It just feels right. I also like the newer chrome color. It all blends very damn well. After a few days of being spoiled by the LG Spectrum's screen, I was reminded of how much the Razr's screen lags behind the competition, however, it's not that evident until they're side by side, and how often does that happen?

Haven't been able to gauge the battery too much, but I get mine tomorrow so I'll post it up. P.S. The original 32GB Razr in white and black are dropping to $249.99, not $279.99. If any store has that up or tells you that's the price they're not keeping up with their merchandising. But I still think the best deal is the $199.99 Razr's.

My only complaint is that the Maxx was announced after the extended holiday return period had ended. I could really use the extra battery life on my Razr, although if I don't use it too much during the day, I make it through work without a problem. Once I start playing games, streaming video, listening to music, etc., the battery drains pretty quickly.

After transferring Approx 500mb of data on 4G while nonstop playing with settings, screen layout, and just general set up all at the same time, the battery went from the out of box charge level (unknown as I did not have Battery Indicator yet) to 50%. I am loving the large battery and the additional heft and size vs the Razr I returned today.

Bought one today for my wife. I have a Galaxy Nexus. Can't comment on battery yet.
I like the feel of the phone. I actually like the feel better than my GNex.
I'd like more haptic feedback, but that is strictly my opinion. Speed feels every bit as fast as my GNex.
One other quick comment....I didn't see my 5Ghz wi-fi access points, only 2.4Ghz. I am guessing there is no 5Ghz antenna on the Maxx, while the GNex can see my 5Ghz access points. This makes a difference for me as my 5Ghz 802.11n APs are quite a bit faster than my 2.4Ghz 802.11n APs.

This phone is perfect for my wife (battery life trumps ICS and HD screen), while the GNex is perfect for me (love ICS and HD screen, and 5Ghz).

I still think the nexus is better. Motorola makes really bad products now and what's even worse is the updates (droid 2, x, x2, bionic). I can guarantee ICS will get destroyed by Motorola and their blur .

little story about today...

It seems I'm living vicariously through my gf right now. She was due for an upgrade on her family plan and I conveniently talked her into this phone (she is coming form an incredible with awful batter life). she was working this morning and I was free so I had a chance to run over to the Verizon store with her mom to pick a Maxx up for her. We had stopped in a few days earlier to inquire and then called tuesday to hold one- which I am sure had nothing to do with what happened at check-out...So they bring the phone out, and I picked out a silicone case, grabbed the car dock, and some clear screen protectors--because it was buy 3 get 20% off.

What came next was totally unexpected. the sales rep helping us said that there were verizon company reps at the store today and they were going to come over and speak with us. they never did but when the lady checked us out the TOTAL came to $281.xx!!

Now Im no dummy, but we had about $380 worth of equipment on the check-out counter, so in lieu of a possible mistake I just kept my mouth shut for a few seconds...After the transaction was complete I softly made a comment about the price and the lady said it was because we were the first customers to purchase the maxx, then chuckled and said that wasn't really the reason. The verizon rep then came over and offered us some free swag (water bottle, mouse pad, and lunch cooler). They never told us why we got such a good price- the same price as was being advertised on some 3rd party sites I believe. anyhow, it was a nice surprise and the phone so far is AWESOME.

I will post an update on batter life and camera performance as these seem to be the two most asked questions about the phone!
