Default Problem with Activation? -Update 3G area-

Received my RAZR MAXX yesterday and was unable to get it activated online. After speaking with customer service this morning, installing the SIM card, it just stays of the Activation screen then finally goes to a screen saying there was a problem with activating your phone, try again or contact customer care. Have retried over and over and over! The customer service girl I have been talking to verified the IEMI and SIM card numbers and said that it might take up to 24 hours??

Any ideas, coming from Blackberry Storm 2 9550.

Shouldn't take any longer than an hour, unless they are having server issues in VZW... call them up again, or go to a corporate store.

So now technical support is telling me that this phone must be activated in a 4G area? Is this right? Never heard of this before.

It should not matter. When I activated by TB last year, I was in a 3G area including a corp store by my house in a 3G area and they have been selling out of them.

    Go to a corporate store.

I cant see how you have to be in a 4g area since 4g isnt all everywhere yet, I got my Maxx on friday and have not even seen a 4g area yet and it works fine.

I had the same issue when going from an old 4g sim card (activated the phone originally with) to the one that came with my Maxx. Called customer service last night, girl I spoke with was clueless. Told me so simply put the old one back in that works. Called back this a.m. and spoke to someone "next tier" up. I was up and running in minutes.

Usually if you call back enough, you will find someone that knows what the hell they are doing.

Haha. *****'s. Call them back and tell them you want 20$ off your bill (gas money) cause you had to drive 30 miles to get to a 4G area to activate your phone. How do these people get hired????
