Default CNN Story About VZW Pushing Android, Maxx

Interesting story. I think VZW is trying to place themselves as the 'Android' warehouse, where AT&T is fine being the place to be for the iPhone. I'm sure the Nexus and Rezound people will take offense to this story, as it just supports their claims that their phones have been forgotten by Big Red. Glad that the Razr and Maxx are being pushed though. Can only mean great support over the next few years.

Actually it means great support until the next Droid comes out then the RAZR and MAXX and Droid 4 will be left behind.. that is the way of the smartphone life cycle

This is my first post so I say Hello...
I can tell you as a former VZW employee (quit last week ) its more of a push towards LTE. Reps get more incentive .

I can see why Verizon pushes LTE as that's the network they want everyone to be on. The iPhone is cramping their style, even if it's a money maker.

In theory, pushing LTE devices over the 3G iPhone 4 and 4S helps keep the EVDO network clear.

Thats what I thought too. And I thought I read LTE is cheaper to maintain with less power consumption. Not phone power but antenna tower power.

LTE is also good for the bottom line. Easier access to data means more data being used means more expensive data plans and overages.

VZW is also selling some their spectrum. So they need people off the CDMA, and on LTE

Sure doesn't seem like Verizon is pushing the Razr Maxx. Considering the gauntlet you must endure to track one down...

OTOH, I called 5 stores and 3 recommended the iPhone.
With a sample size as small as it was, it's a bullsh!t study. Clickbait.

Actually, it's all a out commissions and margins. Apple charges stores 600 for an iPhone 4s. The sakes person sells the phone for 200 and signs the customer up for a new contact. The carrier then pays the store 500 for the origination. Net to store is $100, with part of that being paid as a commission to the sales person. On a razor maxx, Moto charges the store 400 for the phone and the carrier pays the same $500. The store chafes 299, less any promotions. The profit is almost 400. Which phone are you going to push if you own the store?

it's funny that this came up today cause i was at Vzw this afternoon and i couldn't have picked out the iphone on first glance. unlike at ATT, it was all hidden in the corner. so special display. nothing. the ones on display weren't even working models.

but the maxx however was front and center with 3 working models available.

oh how the times have changed...

Not necessarily. My unlimited data plan is $9.99 a month and will carry over when I get a 4G phone

    Data $29.99 - $20 discount

I have unlimited too, but newer customers don't. That was my point. But why is it only $10 for you?

iPhone's kill vzw's revenue, vzw's needs to take the load of 3G and that's why 4g is a big push as well.

Many of us, including myself and the above poster, were given a promotion from Verizon called Talk and Text plus Data $20 discount.

This was offered over a year ago and no longer available as far as i know.
