Google maps update
.....and Latitude is broken. My wife disappeared from Latitude and I cannot add her back. Lately it seems that one app after another is getting completely FUBAR'd. WTF is going on?

Also the offline thing isn't working for me. I downloaded my city and turned off data and wifi, when I tried searching some place to get directions it tells me that there isn't a data connection available. What are we supposed to do with the data if it can't be used?

Lol, even the help link under the menu key for maps is broken. It just sits there and never loads the damn page. What a worthless pain in the *** this has become. Is Google on a mission to break everything? WTF are they doing? My wife can see my location but I can't even add her back. Exact same settings on identical phones. Pull your head out of your ***, Google!

Wondering if it is just your phone my friend, my two Maxx's aren't having g any issues. One has ICS and one does not, they see each other perfectly even after the app update. Haven't tested the offline map yet.

Nope, not just my phone. Deleted me as a friend in Latitude on my wife's phone and now it won't let me add myself back. That's two phones it's jacked up on. Neither of us can add anyone as a friend under Latitude.
As for deleting Latitude or Maps, you can't. I tried uninstalling updates but that didn't fix it. Google screwed this up big time.

And yes, I tried the "battery pull" restart. No help. I'm really starting to hate Google as much as i hate Micro$haft for selling broken junk.

Re: Google maps update
yes it is google not you! there are more people posting it is working fine including me! probably something simple. Why did you delete yourself? to re-add yourself?

Re: Google maps update
I don't have ICS, hasn't made it here yet. Never rooted.
Several hours later I got a notice on my phone that my wife wanted to add me as a friend under Latitude. I have no idea why it took several hours for the message to go through, but it is working again. I didn't delete her as a friend and she didn't delete me, but she was gone from my phone right after the update. - 06-29-2012, 06:22 PM

Re: Google maps update
Yes. I tried clearing the data and cache for Maps on my phone and that didn't help. I tried rolling back updates and that didn't help. I tried a fake battery pull and that didn't help. The only option I had left was to try to delete me on the wife's phone and then add me back, hoping somehow to re-establish the connection. That didn't help either.

Re: Google maps update
The only thing I can think of is that is must have been something local- or at least regional in IL. I was in northern IL and she was mid-state when I first noticed the problem. Problem continued when I got home. Then several hours later it fixed itself. I have no idea why. All I know is that it started right after the update. Very frustrating.

Re: Google maps update
I searched Android Central and found this thread.... it wasn't until half way through it
that I realized this is a Moto RARZ section.
All three smartphones in my family are having problems with Google Maps after
the recent updates. (Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound, Samsung Droid Charge)
When using the navigation function, Google Maps will give the wrong directly
randomly and sometimes "My Location" is off by as much as 1/4 mile.
Prior to these updates(more than a week ago?), everything in Google Maps
on all three smartphones worked perfectly.
Does anybody know if Google is aware of this situation? - 06-30-2012, 03:53 PM #19
Re: Google maps update
This is a widespread issue. Even other GPS apps and such--Sygic--are having this issue.
I've personally reported it (twice lol), but who knows if it's even within their purview, so to speak.Former moderator & advisor.

I wonder if that billion dollar satellite flying around in space that scientist & media keep referring to as space junk had hindered Googles maps ... Just sayin

Re: Google maps update
I was driving from NY to DC just yesterday. I had my Galaxy Nexus with me. Google Maps
was showing me heading in the wrong direction on I-495 near Bethesda. It freaked me
out a bit because I'm not British and I'm not a 90-year-old who drives in the wrong direction.
I was driving westbound on the outer loop when the map showing me moving eastbound
on the inner loop!!!!!
About an hour later, it showed my current location as in the middle of the Potomac
River when I was standing inside the terminal at DCA.
Sure hope Google get this fixed ASAP!!! - 06-30-2012, 04:13 PM #23
Re: Google maps update
I'm in the DC area myself; was using it last night (when the issue first occurred) trying to find food/gas after that storm...needless to say I damn near killed myself (twice).
Also, this is happening on all sorts of roms too...Jelly Bean, AOKP (ICS), Liquid (ICS), CM9, etc. At first we (people in the GN forums, RW, etc.) thought it was a JB issue, but alas, it is not. I thought it was the new update, so I got an old maps apk and tried that...same deal.
So for now...we wait.Former moderator & advisor.

Well, with this widespread an issue, Google should become aware of it soon if they aren't already.
