    Default New phone costs

By now we all know about the share everything plan and how we get shafted if we want a new handset. My question is this: what happens if i buy a phone from a third party, be it Amazon or an individual or the like? Will i be forced into share everything since i bought the phone at a lower rate? How does this work?

    Ouch...it's a RAZR, Maxx.

If you buy a phone without a plan then you are just fine... just like walking into a Verizon store and paying full price. You should be able to activate it and walk out with your unlimited plan still in place.

And again, your current plan still exists! You can stick on an individual or family plan when you upgrade. Your data FEATURE, if its unlimited, is no longer offered and you would need to switched to a tiered which is $30 for 2 GB.

Yes, just be aware that unless its bought from an authorized retailer brand new, the warranty will not be active.

Amazon and Best Buy are authorized.
