Directions on how to clear your cache

*THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK ON JELLY BEAN*

1. Turn your device off.

2. press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. While holding those buttons down press and hold your Power button until a menu appears.

3. Press Volume Down to navigate to Recovery, then press Volume Up to choose that selection.

4. When the black screen comes up, press Volume up and Volume down at the same time. This brings up the Android System Recovery. It may take more than one try to get this screen to appear for reasons unknown.

5. Using Volume up and down to navigate and Power to select, you can then Wipe Data/Factory Reset, or Clear Cache. 035.jpg

6. Enjoy!

Aren't there enough threads explaining how to clear cache (or cash$ as some people like to call it)?

funny how people keep asking how to do it then isn't it?

if you'd like i can just delete this and incorporate it into the sticky above.

There can never be enough threads explaining how to do something. Especially when people start bumping old threads or creating new ones because they can't find a thread because it is so far back.

This thread should just be made into a sticky, since the explanation is nice and clear. Any mods out there able to oblige?

Unless you're Dan Quayle. Zing! Early '90s humor, don't you miss it?

I stand corrected

If I do a wipe data factory reset will I lose everything? What's a good backup for contacts and such if I do lose everything? Any other tips if I do do the wipe/reset?

Your contacts should be backed up with your Google account, so you won't lose those.

You will lose all your apps. You can root first and install titanium backup to keep a backup of your apps!

Follow the directions here and breathe ;)

All my apps should be in the play store under my account too right? I'd just have to re download them.

That is correct. Titanium back will just do that for you in a batch move (if you get the paid version) so you hit one button to backup... Wipe your phone. Re download titanium backup, and hit restore missing apps. Just don't restore the data, I find it creates issues.

I always restore my data for my apps, you just can't do it for system apps but that is under a different category in titanium
