how do I stop jb update?

I do not want jb update until foxfi works with it. Has anyone tried svtp? Is there a way to stop the upate? Not having hotspot to work is a show stopper for me. Do not want to root.

LOL...seriously? If it was such an issue, then maybe they should remove those kind of apps from the Play Store....yet, they don't.

Actually they did. Until the FCC ruled that verizon couldn't.

But for real. The hassle to stop the update is more work that it's worth. Foxfi will probably be updated within days to work with jb.

I would if it was a reasonable price. In addition why should VZ care if I am reading stuff on a big screen(tablet) or phone screen?

I agree with you there....I'm actually surprised that FoxFi hasn't come out with it yet. That's actually what I use.

Agreed. If you are paying for a service, the company should not care how you use up that service as long as they are receiving payment. I have a 4 GB limit. If I want to use up my 4 GB's on my phone, or split it 50/50 with my Note 10.1, that should be my decision. As long as I pay them for what I use, they shouldn't be so concerned with what device is utlizing that service. The only reason they try to stop it, is because that way they can force me into paying them more money. It's so crazy how in today's world, some customers are perfectly okay with large corporations like Verizon stealing from them, and then they accuse other people of stealing from Verizon when we pay a premium price for every last bit of service we use.

It is not stealing it; in fact, when VZW sells you a phone with that capability to use on their network knowing apps are out there that allow this and does nothing to monitor/stop you, they are acquiescing in you using the phone in that way. Research this and how the course and conduct of the parties to a contract can modify it.

I think what they care more about is you letting other people tether their devices to your phone allowing your account to share data that you alone wouldn't have used.

If AT&T can figure out how to monitor and stop free hotspots, so can VZW. The fact that VZW doesn't means they are acquiescing in you using your phone as a hot spot without paying more for that functionality.

Again though, even if that is the case (which i'm sure that you are correct), they are still receiving payment for the data being used. If you want to allow someone else to use your data, that should be your choice. If you are on unlimited and you want someone else to use your data, who cares? I think VZW sees unlimited data like an all-U-can-eat buffet. They are fine with you eating as much as you can because you will get full at some point but if they let you share your plate with someone else then between the two of you, you consume more than you would have had you not shared.

With the capped data plans I agree there should not be any constraints on sharing the capped amount of data you purchased. Its only when it is unthrottled unlimited that is becomes an issue.
