    Sure were. I completely forgot that. I will upload my SS 3.11 backup tonight and have it ready tomorrow. Sorry about that.

    I haven't tried it yet but I have seen a lot of posts that says sbf_flash in a Linux environment WILL NOT flash your radio. IF you can get one of those SBF's to flash so you can at least use your phone to SS and restore a Safe ROM then you would be right back to stock. I'm not real familiar with Linux myself but I went through the steps the other day just for fun and it seemed simple enough. I didn't actually perform a flash, but I went as far to where Ubuntu said it was waiting for my phone. I really wish I had a bricked phone to try it on. Somewhere out there is a Live CD you can sbf_flash with. If you could download a Verizon SBF and flash it without flashing the radio, that would probably work. Not sure Alltel will be able to flash it for you anyway. I chatted with a tech support rep the other day and she said they didn't have any files available. Not to say they aren't out there (they have to be)-but getting access to them will be near impossible. If they can flash it that will be great.

    I personally think a Verizon SBF flashed with sbf_flash is you best bet. I will hunt down the links and post them for you.

    I didn't have the issue where I couldn't boot. I just wiped the System ROM and my backups wouldn't restore-some md5 error I'm trying to find out info on now in another thread. So I went into my wife's phone on SS 2.11. Turned Safe System on and it goes through the backup process and makes the files which are the ones in my Google drive under MAXX/Safestrap Backup/Internal/safestrap. I then copied over those files to my device safestrap internal card and booted into recovery with a custom ROM I had installed. Short story, I bet it can be done with a Verizon SBF. But do it with sbf_flash so you keep your radio.

    I'll try to sit down at work tomorrow and write up a full How To.

    See if you can get ahold of another carrier with the generic CDMA RAZR, or hell, even Moto themselves for the generic CDMA software. Realistically, if you can get something flashed and booted, you can use SS and just never run your "stock" side again.

    Disclaimer here: Flashing is ALWAYS risky. You brick, your fault. I am not responsible for any damage to your device.

    is the website with the SBF's. I have SBF'ed an Alltel Milestone X2 with an Ntelos SBF and the ONLY problem I had was radio/3G. I wish now I had tried it with a Verizon SBF just so I would know what would happen. Note that I did the X2 with RSDLite. if you use RSDLite you WILL FLASH YOUR RADIO.

    is the sbf_flash guide. You will need some computer skills for this. I've been playing with Ubuntu on a Virtual machine I have and it is really super easy once you get going. but a Live CD is very easy too. Plus the tutorial is pretty easy to follow. You would just have to change the name of the file to whatever you name it.

    I wish there were someway we could extract the SBF from our phones. That would be the most amazing piece of software. Hope you get it going and that maybe this helps.

    I killed my stock side a few days ago. Had to flash a custom ROM and then go through some stuff but I did get back to full stock. Like I said-gonna write a tutorial on it tomorrow if I get a chance.

    Well went to alltel today and they are sending me a new phone. Guess I lucked out there, they said they couldn't even get into the recovery. The one guy asked if I tried rooting it, I just said no LOL. At least they're sending me a new one whew.

    I'll have to be extra careful from now on. I was never afraid to mess up with my Milestone X since there is an alltel sbf online. I learn something new every time I get a new device.

    Sorry homie. I've just been really busy with forum stuff and my regular job. I'll have something cool cooked up on Monday, I promise (almost, lol.) Still working on MMS and I have to go through and process updates (if any) to the ROMs I have up now.

    Thanks for the update. I got my replacement phone today and apparently they sent me a Verizon maxx. The guy at the alltel store tried to activate it and call and text work but no data and he said it has the wrong software version on it. Now I get to wait another 5 days for another replacement. Its been a pain but I'd never be in this predicament if I didn't screw up my first one to begin with.

    Sure would've. They shoulda been able to flash it for him. But then again, they have NO CLUE as to what to do-most of them anyway.

    I'm prolly gonna try sbf_flash just for the fun of it. At least on an old Milestone X2 my son has. I have an Alltel SBF for it and I want to see if I perform a flash with sbf_flash if the radio changes. From all the reading I've done, it will not flash the radio. If that is the case, then in a worst case scenario like iaminflames had, we could flash back to stock with a Verizon SBF and keep 3G and cell signals.

    I guess they couldn't have flashed it now that I think about it, unless they have magical tools we don't, since the image wouldn't be signed for that model.

    I've been fighting with MMS all day. I'm about to give up. Does anyone else hate using GoSMS or is it acceptable?

    I've picked apart both the stock and the aftermarket APKs in both ICS and JB and tried every trick I could think of. Either I get the same behavior (stuck on "Sending") or the app just force closes on me.

    It's a weird setup -- something I have never seen. The /system/etc in the original stock system contains around 70 different apns-conf files. If I have Notepad++ search the whole folder for the word 'ALLTEL' here's what I get.

    In the file apns_conf-1, which I am inclined to believe is the one the phone reads from because of the carrier.id in the build prop being "-1", here's what I get:

    You should be able to find the stock APN settings by opening the Voice Dialer app (on stock rom of course) and say "open apns" and it should open to show you these. You could also get the app called xShorcut and create a shortcut to APNs. This should give us exactly the ones we need.

    I thought it was odd as well that there are so many apns-xml files.

    Cool Re: Got ROMs? Flashable ZIPs for your Alltel MAXX!

    Ok, I'll start with the AOKP / PA Hybrid Build (King Kang) 12/20/2012 build rom. This is my favorite at this time.

    Add the following to the apns-conf.xml. I added them on line 30 right after the Boost Mobile one.
    Code:
    <apn carrier="ALLTEL 2" mcc="310" mnc="330" apn="internet" user="" password="" server="*" proxy="" port="" mmsc="http://mms.alltel.com/servlets/mms/" mmsproxy="mms.alltel.com" mmsport="8080" type="default,mms,stdhipri"/>
      <apn carrier="ALLTEL 2" mcc="310" mnc="330" apn="internet" user="" password="" server="*" proxy="" port="" mmsc="http://mms.alltel.com/servlets/mms/" mmsproxy="mms.alltel.com" mmsport="8080" type="dun"/>
    Next add the following to the build.prop right after the line gsm.operator..numeric=310000
    Code:
    ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=ALLTEL 2
    ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=310330
    Next grab this and copy it to /system/app and overwrite the existing one (make a backup of origonal one using a file manager like root explorer. Once its copied over change the permisions to match the other apps in this fold. Next tap the Mms.apk app and install it. If I built it right it should install without an error. If you get an error let me know. I had to reboot to get it take effect. Also you'll want to "Open APNS" and you should see the two listed.

    @cole2kb - you could probably throw all this in your patch files once its confirmed working.
