Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Please do show me where anyone said it was "official"
The last time I checked when something is released before it is supposed to be, it's a leak. Because it was LEAKED out when it wasn't supposed to be.
Fact of the matter is no one will know if you will be able to get the ota, but I have a feeling this is gonna cause a huge headache for everyone who tries to explain how to flash the update manually........

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Thanks for saving me the trouble of typing all that.
Just want to add that every leak at one point or another is a potential ota.
If it was the ota, then why not officially release it since the cat is out of the bag?
I suspect the. Version number will change before the actual release causing you to have to flash the upgrade.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
What if this was just supposed to be released to a few say developers or testers? But instead went to everyone by accident. No one knows.
All that matters is you are not on an official rom, so you more than likely not be able to update via ota.
But it's okay, because it's really easy to flash it, and you won't have to wait for the ota to get pushed to your phone like you normally would, which could take weeks after it got released.
I have always done all my updates by myself, and I have never had any bugs that anyone else had with any update, maybe there's a reason for that?

Wow.. That was a novel and a half reading all that I had missed for the hours I was gone. LOL
Well, I am just biding my time I guess. Boss told me for work, I am probably going to be working at Notre Dame for a month, so that means WiFi so I should be good there.. But it's just going to suck having the restrictions!
Ugh. Root? Anyone have it yet? >.<Rule 2 of Z-land, Double tap. Don't get stingy with your bullets. It could save your life. - 01-15-2013, 11:42 AM #55
Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Honestly I don't think we will see a root method until the official ota comes out, because devs aren't going to waste their time on an unofficial release when by the time they figure it out the official one could be out.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
It was official because it was sent OTA. Just because it was pulled for whatever reason it still came via a legit official channel. If you load the JB update via side loading but it is the original downloaded update it is still the official release. It isn't some ROM created from an actual leak. If you were not rooted and got the official update through OTA or side loading the original zip, you should have no issues updating when it is re-released.
As far as I'm aware VZW is unable to tell if the update was applied by OTA or side loading because they are supposedly the original file.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Just because it came from ota doesn't mean it was intended to be the official release. I don't understand what is so had to get about that.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
And on top of that, if it were meant to be the ota, why not release it now.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
So by installing this release you are voiding you're warranty then? Warranty only covers official software and their updates, if this isn't official then your outta luck.
All they did was recall an official update, that is all. Just like a soak test. It is official but not released too everyone.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
If you side load you technically are. If you got one of the ota ones then no.
Again, if it was the ota, why is it just sitting there

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Once again, where the hell has it been said it was official, just because you think so doesn't mean it is.
This is nothing like soak test, with a soak test they release the actual official ota to people who were accepted into the program, if it's good to go they release that exact ota.
This is an update that was leaked to the public by accident, before a soak test even happened, before it even had a chance to become official.
And no your warranty won't be void, because verizon knows it was released to some people. There's no way they can tell you flashed it manually.

Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
MrHost, I am going to kindly ask you to not post anything further on this because I can sense you are going to upset some other forum members by trying to stand on no legs regarding the legitimacy of the JB upgrade that was pushed for VZW by mistake. I agree with others that it was not official because it's almost a month later, and there is still no OTA upgrade available. It was not Official and to say it was so only serves to make you look less credible.
To any who read this post, and think I am being too harsh, I am sorry. I moderate for several forums. I am merely trying to nip a potential problem in the ****.Rule 2 of Z-land, Double tap. Re: Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4
Right. A site that no one has ever heard of who doesn't list any sources except from taking the instructions from a user from xda and not even taking the time to link to the post.
Who also doesn't say anything about them stopping it as soon as they realized it.
For the last time. If it was official, they would have just said the hell with it were just gonna leave it out there, but obviously it's not official hence why they stopped it.
I'm done with this thread now because I'm tired of repeating my self.
Carry on everyone else.
