screen issue since jelly bean

I have run into a weird issue since the jelly bean update I have a otter box on my maxx on both my wifes and my phones. for some reason when I make a call I am unable to press the power button to turn the screen on to press the speaker phone or use the phone when I am a call. I have full use of the phone when I am not in a call. its not a hardware issue because it is happening to both phones since the update. I wonder if the built in screen protector on the otter box is putting the phone into a pocket mode that was on previous version of android. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Screen protectors or cases can sometimes interfere with the phone's proximity sensor (which turns off your screen during call to prevent your earlobe from pressing any buttons). Perhaps the JB update made the sensor more sensitive (or sensortive?). Try taking the Otterbox and screen protector off and see what happens.

I've seen this as well. Doesn't happen often but it has. BTW, I have no protection at all.

thanks for the feedback, called moto and Verizon they are unaware of the problem, but when Bluetooth is on it allows me to access the phone....
