i have tried the method for linux, im running ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, and im getting elf class 64: wrong elf class. any way i can fix or get around this?

Yes, you need to download "Wifi Tether". It works great...

Rooted also on my RAZR. Did it last night!

I've never rooted as well and I really want to but the only problem is that there is no way to recover the phone if you brick it correct? I wanna get rid of all this crap bloatware on my phone!

Is it that bad? Hide it. We have enough space for many apps. Remember the g1? Back then I cared cus I was able to download a few apps only. Now we have much more space to download apps. On the other hand I did pay over 700 bucks on a this device. It is my property. Like a truck, I wish I can remove Verizon crap like I can remove my stereo and tires and use something better.

I don't mind looking at them it's just I know for a fact that if I freeze all this crap bloatware, my battery life will get better cuz every once in a while, that stupid Social Locations app pops up on my battery usage and it really drains the crap out of it. Like you said, I paid for it and it is my property so I would like to have full control of it.

i got no idea, its my first ever android device and m coming from nokia 5800!!

i too rooted via Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit even installed bootstrap

hope u enabled debugging mode and attached it in charge only mode

yes i did. i even watched the video of the guy doing it, and he said put it in pc sync mode as he said, after in charge mode.

its simple

enable debugging mode

connect to pc in charge only mode

open terminal

$ cd DroidRazrRootMacLinux\ [assuming u extracted it in the home folder]
$ sudo sh runmelinux.sh

I thought I heard that the wireless tether apps were only redirecting people to the Verizon website (with Gingerbread OS anyway). Which "Wifi Tether" app are you talking about. Link or apk would be great.

I also heard PDANet still works...
