Just about had it with Razr/verizon
Lost data again here in Gilroy CA. 4g drops all the time. Have to toggle airplane mode or CDMA/LTE on and off, some times need to power cycle the phone. This is when the network actually up....
Really getting tired of it. Tired of blame game and blame shifting as well. Tired of Verizon not being open about what is going on. Bottom Line is that right now Verizon 4g and 4g phones are not reliable and do not meet a reasonable standard of service.
I love my Razr. I just really need a higher standard of service. - 12-28-2011, 12:21 PM #2AKA TrendyProfessional1

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
I don't see how 4g phones are not reliable. I'm not in a 4g area keep my phone on cdma and I have never had any problems. So maybe Verizon is having issues with there network but I don't think it has to do with the phone. My razr works great

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
Verizon has been having widespread 4G LTE outages and issues for about 36 hours now... as for 3G, its intermittent in some areas....
Dont blame the phone for a network issue... thats like saying Red Bull sucks becuase Wal-Mart never has it in stock.... Blackberry, windows and iphone users are having the same issues...
but if you wanna cancel... then be my guest... no one is stopping you other than youself and your whine crying posts on here...
good luck on finding a carrier without network and/or 4G LTE issues... LOL LOL LOL

Yes I did read it. You stated the 4G service AND 4G phones aren't reliable. Or did you write that in a bad mood which in turn affected your cognitive capacity?
Again Ill state.. don't blame a phone for network issues. Verizon may be great. But when you grow, you experience growing pains, especially when you hook up IMS to a nationwide LTE network, which never has been done. That was also affecting 3G too. Hence all the intermittent issues on 3G. Now that its been pulled, LTE fragmented into regions, and IMS restored in those regions, all should be good... until the next pain.
Dont insult my intelligence please... calm down from your angry rant and know your facts before you post.. and if you dislike the service, then again, leave and find something else. But, YET AGAIN, all carriers have their own issues and growing pains. Finding something to your liking may be hard.
OK pumpkin? :-)

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
I thought 4g had no effect on voice calls, from what I know 4g is only good for downloading or streaming? I use my 3g all the time and then when I'm streaming or downloading something that's when I kick it over to 4g... VZW is still the best in coverage, go to another carrier you will have more problems than what you have with VZW, besides new technology always has bugs....

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
That is the problem! All Verizon 4g phones are supposed to be backwards compatible with 3G. So when you don't have a 4g signal it is supposed to pick up a 3G signal but it does not. I have had the thunderbolt, bionic and neither had good signal. I don't live in a 4g area and was told they would work just fine. I won't get a 4g phone until I get 4g signal here.

There is no 4g herein Albany GA as well. I have the Razr and I'm fine on 3g. When I went to NYC, I had 4g fine. Left NYC and came back to 3g fine. No issues. No reboot. No toggles. No nada!
Except for the IMS issues in October and December, never had 4g/3g issues like you all are experiencing. Niether do anyone I know on a 4g phone. I still conclude you all have lemons or continued network issues on your area.
Verizon is still great. And I wouldn't be caught dead on Sprint or T-Mobile or my former employer ATT.

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
I agree. Verizon def has the best coverage. I live in a small area which will not get 4G for a while. Sadly I feel I am limited to 3G phones for now.

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
I get network problems as well. The 4/3G symbol just disappears and then comes back in a few seconds. I don't know why this is happening. I would suppose it might be software on this phone or 4G phones. I never ever had that happen on my X.

Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
My apt is a virtual dead zone. I wanted to see something. Nothing scientific, not a whole lotta tests..
Running speed tests with my RAZR on 3G only and DX1....the DX1 was picking up 1x better than the RAZR. Yea....virtual dead zone. lol.
Wild part to me....I switched it to 4G...and got a 4G connection with 4G speeds....slow as hell but it was 4G...probably around 1 or 2Mbps. And when the connection dropped down to 1X...the 1x speeds were better on the RAZR than when it was on 3G only.
Dont know what all this means. When the outage happened after the RAZR launched...I didnt know cuz I was on 3G only at the time. Maybe all the times I was using it, it was working, maybe I wasnt using 3G enough to notice,,,who knows,
With whats been happening with the network...its hard for anyone to tell if its the phone or the network. - 01-10-2012, 06:16 PM #20
Re: Just about had it with Razr/verizon
I understand your frustration. I went through the same thing here in Sacramento CA with my Samsung Charge.
Bought the Charge end of May and was amazed at blinding speeds. Then starting in August the 4G network became a hindrance. Data dropped for sometimes 5 minutes but because both 4G and 3G antennas were searching for a signal my battery life was cut to about 4 hours. Sure I didn’t have a problem if I switched it to 3G, BUT I PAID FOR A 4G PHONE IN A 4G AREA.
So I played the Verizon exchange game.
I called and complained several times and went through the “factory reset, try this, try that” Verizon Rap before they sent me a replacement. Charge #2 same problems (not as bad as #1), after 6 weeks I couldn’t deal with it any more, I called and complained, they tried to give me a song and dance about my area but then sent me a replacement. Charge #3 same problems (worse than both #1 & #2), after a couple of weeks of the Verizon Rap they sent me a Razr as a replacement.
I will say I love the Razr. It is much better at keeping the 4G signal and the switch to 3G is almost instant, but the original problem of dropping 4G is still there. This is without a doubt a Verizon 4G issue.
But as frustrating as it can be remember that the Verizon rep on the other end of the phone did not cause the problem, cannot fix the problem, and is just doing their job as they are told. They have nothing against you they just want to keep they’re job. - 01-13-2012, 07:55 AM #21

You might be on the edge if the network if it wasn't during one if the times the entire network went down in the last month or so. In San Francisco, I have absolutely no issues with 4G unless Verizon's network is down, but when I traveled to visit family about an hour and a half away from SF, it constantly switched from 4G to 3G since I seemed to be on the edge.
