The "font" is mostlikely an image or "png" within the Dialer.apk itself. You would have to look inside your Dialer.apk (or whatever the exact name is) and see.
You can then swap out the images "pngs" with creations of your own using Gimp or other paint program if your a little handy with those types of things.
Edit: To clarify things more.. The numbers maybe a separate image in themselves and the black keypad button could be its own separate image too. I have also seen them combined.. It just depends on how the manufacture "UI" has it defined or laid out in the Dialer.
Before I forget, all of the above mentioned can only be achieved also if your device is rooted. No root, no modifying of the Dialer unless you find something app related on the Google Play Store.Last edited by Paul627g; 05-03-2012 at 11:01 AM.
