Horrible battery life after ICS update.
So after receiving the 4.0 ICS update on my Droid RAZR, I've noticed my battery life has been significantly reduced. Every time I use my phone, even for short periods of time, the battery life just plummets dramatically.
Now I know the first thing people will say is turn your WiFi off when outside, turn your GPS off, brightness down etc etc, but I've done those, and more.
I have a few screenshots of my phone below showing my battery use. Note that during the time period my battery went from 100% fully charged to ~18%, my brightness was less then 10%. GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, even 4G was all turned off the entire day. The battery use screen that shows absolutely no Mobile network signal were when I was outside working...the phone was on Airplane/Sleep mode inside my locker.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks much. - 07-15-2012, 10:48 AM #2
Try the .214 or .215 leak. There has been reports of significant battery improvements with these leaks.

Re: Horrible battery life after ICS update.
Same issue after the OTA for ICS. Factory reset took care of my battery life problems. Seema the verizon location agent didn't uninstall like it should have. Read somewhere in forums that verzon location agent app not compatible with ICS. after factory reset Verizon location agent app gone and not available to install.

6.16.214 ics upgrade leak
6.16.215 ics update leak
You do not have to be rooted. This is a leak via Motorola. Currently I'm running the .215 leak with no problems. Good battery life. Also as stated above. A hard reset may fix some problems to. To do this hold the volume down button then push and hold the power button at the same time until the screen shuts off.

Re: Horrible battery life after ICS update.
It will get better, Mine was crap the first two days. Get a battery calibration tool from play stor, charge to 100, calibrate, drain fully, charge again, reboot. At that point, I went from 4hrs with wifi on, to 10 with wifi on, over a day without wifi, but still had data on.

Re: Horrible battery life after ICS update.
My battery life was suffering as well with the ICS update it even caused my phone to freeze and I almost thought I had to get a new phone. But I managed to do a hard reset to the phone now battery life is improved and phone is much faster now

Re: Horrible battery life after ICS update.
Mine is working fine especially on wifi but on 4G it does drop off sooner but don't know how to disable background data like I did on Gingerbread which really saved battery

I believe to set a background data limit you go to menu; system setting; data usage. From their you need to select the box for set mobile data limit. Set your data limit as you see fit. Then you can select from the list of apps below. Select an app say "Facebook" scroll down and then you can select restrict background data. I hope that helps you a little.

Did you do a factory data reset? I've been contemplating doing but I don't know. My battery life is slightly worse now than it was on GB. I've done everything else including flashing the leaked 215 update. I really don't know what to do anymore. All apps seem to be behaving well. The phone is fine while idling but the battery drains really fast when I actually use the phone.
