question about extended battery "conditioning"

I just got the Motorola extended battery for my X. The back says to make sure the battery is charged all the way before I use it, but everyone who's reviewed the battery says it ships around 2/3 charged.

I also understand that modern batteries don't really have to be "conditioned", and on top of it...I don't have a separate battery charger. Should I wait till tonight and charge the new battery to full while the phone is off? Should I just drain it and then charge it all the way up? Does it not really matter one way or another?

Thanks!

For anyone else wondering, I searched some other places and it appears that SOP is to plug the phone in and charge it up all the way, then discharge it fully, in order for the phone to condition itself to the size of the battery.
