Download Mode Help

I want to root my Samsung Epic 4G, stock EI22, but I cant get my phone into Download Mode. It just Powers on my Epic 4g, Is there something I need to place on my SD card for this to work? I completely turn off the phone and press and hold the " 1 " key and thenpress and hold while pressing POWER.

There's nothing you need to put on your SD card. What you're doing should work. Don't let go of the 1 or power key until the download mode screen comes on.

Yeah I've been doing that it just powers on. is there any other way to get to download mode?

Very strange I have never heard of an Epic that would boot up and run but yet wouldn't go into Download Mode...

Google ADB and download it or if you have the Android SDK installed it has ADB in there...

From command prompt in ADB type the following...

adb reboot download

That should put your device into download mode.
